This is my entry into the food category. I am going to be sharing a special kind of recipe for a soup called ATAMA SOUP.
Atama soup is perculiar to the Ibibios, Efik, and Annang clan of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
It is prepared and eaten in special ceremonies like festivals and traditional marriages, as it is a traditional dish. It is very sumptuous and healthy, and i love it.
We cannot deny that good food is essential for good living, that is why i am going to be sharing my recipe for preparing Atama Soup, so that you can follow my steps, prepare and have a taste of this special soup...
INGREDIENTS (Family size)
🥄 Atama leaves (fresh or dried)
🔪 Palm kernel fruits
🥄 Protein
🔪Fresh pepper
🥄Crayfish
🥄Seasoning
🔪Perewinkle
🥄 Water leaf
🔪 Salt to taste
🥄 Onion
🔪 Fish
PREPARATION PROCESS IN STEPS
- Pluck, wash, and slice your either fresh or dried atama leaves.

- Wash and boil your palm fruits till soft.

- After boiling till soft, put in a mortar and pound till fleshy part of the palm fruits if off from the body.
- It is time to squeeze the oil. Now heat some water and pour in it. If it is too hot,wait for it to cool a bit and begin squeezing oil content. Use a seize to filter out chaff particles to get a clean oily liquid.
- After squeezing it should be like this
- Steam protein with seasoning, pepper, onions and minute salt

- Turn your stock water into the mixture and allow to boil.
Cover up for 15 mins
Now add your perewinkle
- Leave to heat up for 5 minutes then add in your sliced water leaf and chopped onions into the pot.
Leave to simmer for 5 minutes, turn.
Your yummy Atama soup is ready. It could be taken with any starch of your choice.
