Summary of the book

The book is about a shepherd Andaluaisn boy whose name was Santiago. Santiago was living on sheep. His place of residence was also not right. He lived in an abandoned house. But one day he dreamed. Santiago's dream was that a boy would grab his hand and drag him to the Egyptian pyramids and talk about finding the hidden treasure. But he woke up before he could see the hidden treasure. Then he asked an old woman about the interpretation of the dream. The old woman interpreted her dream on the condition that she would not need any gold or silver. But he will have to pay 1 out of 10 from the hidden treasure. He had to look at the picture of Jesus and make a promise.

Then Santiago's journey begins in search of the Egyptian pyramids. He does not know where Egypt is, but he does know that Egypt is on the African continent. In the meantime, he fell in love with the daughter of a businessman. But to go to Egypt, he has to give up his lover and his sheep. He desperately chases after his dreams.

There are many more incidents in the middle, you will understand if you read the book. He was introduced to an alchemist, the alchemist said, you will find the hidden treasure wherever your heart tells you. But after wandering around so much, do you know where he found the hidden treasure? In the abandoned church where he lived, under the Sycamore tree, there was an ark containing many more valuable things, including Spanish gold coins.

Why readers should read this book

We all dream but how many people get up and go to implement it. If you read the book, you will see how much Santiago has worked, and in the end, he has succeeded. So from here, we learned to stick. Also, the thoughts that were in Santiago inside the book were awesome.

There will be a lot more adventure in the book. There are also ideas on how to adapt to adverse environments. Santiago's love story will also be seen. In a word, it has a touch of everything.

Introduction and work of the author, translator

The author of the book is Paulo Coelho, a Brazilian novelist. He is famous for his best-selling novel "The Alchemist". He also wrote some other works for Theater For Education, Hell Archives, Maktub, The Fifth Mountain etc.

The Bengali translator of the book is Rakibul Roky. Rakibul Roky was born in Narayanganj. He studied the Bengali language and literature. He has been writing since he was in school. Literature seems to be another name for love. His other translated books are "Kazuo Ishiguro stories" and "The power of subconscious mind".

My opinion about the book

In my opinion, the depth of a book can never be felt by reviewing it. If you want to feel it, you have to read the book a few times. I bought this book in 2018, it is one of my favorite books. In the book, Gypsies are said to be very wise because they travel a lot. Also, the alchemist lives a simple life even after knowing a lot of things in the desert where we can understand that the one who feels comfortable does not need to make any change in his life for the sake of paradise. You can read the book and learn many more interesting things.
