Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Series depicts a real-world approach to the comic-book superhero Batman. Chris actually tried to show Batman from a unique viewpoint that was unfamiliar to comic book fans; the three films delimitate Batman's journey as he progresses in each novel. The three films captures Batman's origins, fall and rise. So, The Dark Knight (2008) is about Batman's fall.

Overview (No Spoiler)

The film's central theme is clear: morality can be skewed by one's viewpoint. On the one side, Batman (Christian Bale) tries to clean up Gotham and enact justice, but he does so while wearing a mask. People and police are willing to let him proceed as long as he serves this role and the consequences of his acts correspond to what is ‘accepted.' When things go wrong, though, the same people who were happy to let Batman clean up their streets now want him dead.

This is, without a doubt, the greatest superhero film of all time. This is one of the most dynamic, dark, spectacular, and epic superhero movies of all-time. Watch this movie for Bale and Ledger, as well as the music, movement, and Nolan's masterful direction.

Central Characters

Batman (Christian Bale)

Christian Bale's Batman is the definitive Batman since we actually get to see everything there about this character on screen. Cunning, great tactical thinking, forensic application, scientific genius to advance or develop Luscious Fox's inventions/technological breakthroughs, formidable personality, and even a little swashbuckling are all attributes that Luscious Fox possesses.

Joker (Heath Ledger)

Heath Ledger truly deserves praise for his portrayal of the Joker. But you must give credit to Jonathan and Chris Nolan for the character's writing and treatment. It's not only that Ledger portrays the Joker as a terrifying figure; the Nolans have also given the character a grand manifesto that guides his behaviour. The Joker's views on disorder, order, anarchy, and the morality of the typical modern human being make him mentally fascinating. The Nolans developed a complex character that could only be pulled off with a flawless performance. That's how challenging this position was, and it's why Ledger's performance is so outstanding.

Harvey Dent/ Two- Face (Aaron Eckhart)

I enjoy Harvey Dent in this film, but there are some disadvantages to following him all the way from DA to Two-Face. Aaron Eckhart is an amorphous, unmotivated character who is thrown into unconvincing circumstances. It's not so much about suspending disbelief with Harvey as it is about assuming and comprehending his characteristics and role in the grand scheme of things that this film is attempting to illuminate. Dent's position, motives, acts, and, finally, cinematic representation was up to the mark.

Christopher Nolan (The Director)

Nevertheless, without Christopher Nolan, the man behind it all, none of this would be possible. The darkest Batman film yet is the best, and the best so far, thanks to the collaboration with writer as well as brother Jonathon Nolan. The dialogue and scenarios are so believable that it doesn't feel like a comic book movie. And it is the script that propels the movie forward. The dialogue is superbly crafted and acts as the focal point of both the conflict and the film.

Favourite Quote

The moral precipice upon which the central characters of this story stand is aptly described by a quote by Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart).

– “You either die as a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

Final Thoughts

This film is still regarded as the gold standard of superhero films, serving as an inspiration for many fans because it has few flaws. Every single aspect of this film is excellent, including the acting, plot, characters, and everything else. When Heath Ledger was cast as the clown Prince of Gotham, he was met with a barrage of criticism, but he literally silenced everyone by giving a stellar performance in this film, which we can simply describe as a perfect antagonist to the protagonist.

The Dark Knight is a powerful reminder that no matter how bad things get in life, there's always hope, or, as Dent says at the very last moment of the movie -

"The night is darkest just before the dawn. And trust me when I say to you, the dawn is coming.”
