CONTEST: WRITE A SHORT STORY TAKEN FROM YOUR LIFE || TRAVELLING EDITION by @faithilyn.

Thank you so much @abuahmad together with @steem-bangladesh for this great opportunity you have given to me to share my travel experiences. I have got many experiences but this time let me share with you this particular one.

Last week on Saturday I traveled with my husband to a village called kamengo. We had gone for a cultural function(olumbe) of my deceased relative. We traveled by a taxi and the atmosphere in that taxi was good because both the driver and the conductor observed the covid SOPs so we were just sitted 2 people per row and the taxi was not stopping too much on the road to pick passengers untill when we reached where we were supposed to go off the taxi.

When we got off the taxi, then I called my relative to direct us on where the function was, we were so surprised when she told us that we still had to travel over 20 kilometers to get to that home and to add on that, the road we were supposed to take was a muddy road, full of pot holes and no taxi could take you there except for motorcycles which we call in Uganda boda-boda. So we had to get on a boda boda which also charged us extremely high.

So we reached there and everything moved on well, we were able to meet family members that we had taken long without seeing. So it was a happy reunion day for all of us and we ate alot of food.

After everything was done then we had to travel back home. So luckily this time there were taxis to transport us to the main road. The taxis usually come where there is alot of people because they see an opportunity to make money. So we got into one of the taxi to drop us to the main road where we could get another taxis to take us home. We were in the middle of the journey then eventually the taxi stopped and the driver said they had run out of diesel. 😲Can you imagine? And there was no close petrol station where he could go to get diesel, and the road wasn't busy for us to get immediate help.

So he packed the taxi and we got out of the taxi and sat along the road. All the cars that passed us were all full of people but we luckily got one who helped us, he took the conductor to the petrol station where he could get diesel and he later came back with it in a jerrican and we were able to leave.

The taxi dropped us at the main road where we were able to get another taxi that took us home. This other one was also trouble because the driver was not observing the SOPs at all. He packed us 4 people per seat, the whole journey was not comfortable at all and passengers we all quarrelling. But all in all we traveled safely.

Amidst all the challenges we faced in this journey, I learned to stay calm and be grateful that at least I was able to meet my relatives and have some fun especially during this part of year. So I focused at that positive side of the journey and it helped me to stay calm and happy amidst the challenges.

I would like to invite @kyara2 and @brendakim to come and take part in this exciting contest.

THANK YOU
