Greeting to all Steemians and Steem Health family. As a member of the Steem Health community, I am participating in the “Steem Health Contest-2 | What is Your Favourite Vegetable and the Benefits?”. This is my entry to the contest.

My favorite vegetable is Potatoes. Because it is full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. It gives us high carbohydrates and calories. Besides, it helps to keep the lower possibility of heart disease and a better immune system.

My favorite vegetable, Potatoes, in comparison to other vegetables, its availability and price in my country Bangladesh. In comparison to other vegetables, potatoes prices are more reasonable and we can find them in the market all the season. Though potatoes are the vegetables of winter, they can be stored for future use. Other vegetables can be spoiled within a few weeks but potatoes can store for a long time.


Fried Potatoes
As my favorite vegetables, I ate potatoes daily with other curries and sometimes stuffed potatoes. Its fries are very delicious. Though fried potatoes contain much fat than other vegetables.

According to Healthline, a medium-size potatoes (173g) contains:
Calories: 168, - Fat: 0 grams, - Protein: 5 grams, - Carbs: 37 grams, - Fiber: 4 grams, - Sodium: 24 milligrams, - Vitamin C: 37% of the RDI, - Vitamin B6: 31% of the RDI, - Potassium: 27% of the RDI, - Manganese: 20% of the RDI

There are benefits of eating potatoes, I will discuss a few of them, which are more important to know for the people.

Potatoes keep our bones strong and healthy Potatoes contain calcium, potassium, and Manganese. Those particles make and keep our bones healthy and strong. It keeps blood pressure low because potatoes contain a low amount of sodium. Besides the low intake of sodium, our health needs a high amount of Potassium intake that increases our blood vessels. And the high amount of potassium can be found in the potatoes.

Potatoes keep our hearts healthy. Its fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin c, potassium coupled with its lack of cholesterol, all support heart health. The potatoes have enough fiber that helps to reduce the amount of cholesterol and keep us away from heart problems.

In the end, I can say everyone should add potatoes to their daily menu. Besides, it is cost-friendly and available everywhere in all the season. People who did not like potatoes also should eat once or twice a week. Because it has all the important particles that keep us away from the different critical health issues.
