Self-care and it's Importance by @pixie.dust

There comes a certain phase in our lives when we give more importance to our work, family, different responsibilities but not to ourselves. We find it extremely difficult to take a few moments out for ourselves. We put ourselves at the last of our priority list which badly affects our physical, emotional and mental health.

Self-care

Self-care means to take some time out for ourselves and indulge in certain healthy activities which make us feel happy and better. It is extremely important not only for a healthy body but for a healthy mind as well. Most people think it's a luxury but instead it's a priority.

The past few weeks had been the busiest ones for me. The constant busy routine made me extremely frustrated and overwhelmed that's when I decided to prioritize myself and take some time out for my self-care. Below I've mentioned some of my self-care activities. You too can follow them for a happier and healthier you.

Beauty Sleep
No matter how obsessed you are with your phone and social media try not to use your phone late night. Maintain a proper sleep schedule where you get atleast 8 hours of sleep. It's very essential for your health, repairs skin and affects appearance too because sleep deprivation causes dark circles and weight gain. Don't compromise on your sleep. There's a reason why we call it beauty sleep.

A Healthy Diet
Treat yourself with a yummy healthy breakfast right after getting up and have a clean and healthy diet. It's usually said that " You are what you eat ". When you eat healthy you're taking care of yourself. It's also one of the most important form of self-care. Eat clean and healthy.

Read some Good Books
Yes you read it right! Reading reduces stress and muscle tension and improves our skills. It increases our knowledge, improves our vocabulary and overall has a positive effect on our personality and mindset. People who read books frequently have a more charming personality.

Follow a Skincare Routine
Try to dedicate a few minutes of your day to take care of your skin by following a simple skincare routine. Even if you don't have time for a complicated beauty regimen to follow, try a simple routine where you clean and moisturize your face after getting up and before going to bed everyday. It will not only keep your skin healthy and youthful but will make you feel confident too.

Engage yourself in Exercise
It's always a great idea to engage yourself in a physical activity by joining a gym class for yoga, aerobics or exercise. It not only makes you healthy and fit but also releases good hormones which boosts our mood and is good for our mental and emotional health as well. I started going to a gym class for aerobics few days back and can feel a positive change in my body and mind too.

A Spa Day
No matter how busy your daily routine is, try to have a spa day atleast once a month where you get yourself pampered at a nice and a clean salon. Get a nice pedicure, manicure and a facial. It is necessary for our confidence and self esteem. When we look good we feel good and who doesn't like getting pampered after all.

Me Time
It's very important to have a me time away from our children and family atleast once or twice a month where we can either plan a Meetup with our friends, go shopping with them or go out on a drive or for a dinner with our spouses without our children. It's a break from our usual routine and really freshens and relaxes our mind.

In my post I've shared some of the forms of self-care which I have started practicing recently. No matter how busy I am, I try to atleast take some time for my self to restore my energy and refresh my mind. It's very critical for health.
