in STEEMIT PAKISTAN3 years ago

Hello everyone, I am very happy for this contest. This contest is important, as it will educate the women on their rights, and knowing their rights, they will be able to live life as they prefer.
Rights of women are also human rights. These rights include the right to live to live life free from violence and discrimination; the right to own property, and the right several other rights that will be explained further in this entry.
Most women always lack adequate knowledge about their rights, even when they know their rights have been infringed, they don't normally know who to go to or how to resolve the problem.

First and foremost, women have the legal right to live. Most people always take women to be less privilege and hence can use them anyhow. Some men seek early riches and at the end use their female relatives for money rituals. Some fetish priest also demand virgin girls for sacrifice to appease the gods. Just like men, women also have the right to live.
Secondly, women have the right to live free from violence and any kind of discrimination and sexual harassment. Violence against women is rampant, and this is normally found in the rural areas. Some men would go out and come home under the influence of alcohol, beating their wives and inflicting pains or injuries on them. They would have money to drink alcohol, yet when the woman asks for money to buy food staffs, they say they don't have. Later in the night, the man then asks for sex from the woman, and if she refused, he will end up using force. It has also been observed that, in a gathering where women are amongst, they are sexually harassed. Such cases if discrimination must always be reported to the nearest police station or the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), to curb the problem and give the right to women to express themselves.

Furthermore, women have the right to own property. It has been observed that, in some part of the world, men own every property in the family, ranging from lands to children. In the extended families, women are not allowed to inherit anything from their parents, following the norm that they are not part of their family but their husbands families. Even when they go to their husbands homes, they treat them like slaves, making them to do all kinds of week and denying them of some of their rights. The houses, lands and the children are always believed to be properties of the husband, until the husband passed away. In some places, when the husband does living the properties for his wife and children, they relatives of the deceased husband still come in to take all from her. With regards to the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, all these treatments are infringement on the woman's right and must be avoided.
Next on the points, women have the absolute right to be part of decision making, in the family level or workplace. In the days of old, women were not allowed to be part of decision making or family meetings, it was normally the men who take decisions for them to follow, whether it was suitable for them or not. This act is an infringement of their right, they are supposed to be part of the decision making, where everyone agrees on one thing.

Nevertheless, women have the right to Education. In the days of old, women were not allowed to take part in education, it was believed that they are supposed to be at home performing house chores or on the farm helping their husbands during the planting and harvesting time. They used to believe that, it is their responsibility for raising up children in the families. There is a saying that "Education is the Key to Success". Hence, everyone had that legal right to succeed in life and the girl child must be enrolled into school, to enjoy their educational right. The educational syllabus must include sex education in curriculum, this will help the girl child understand their sex status, as to when to have sex or get married. This sex education, has a lot of benefits especially to the girl child. It helps them so avoid indiscriminate sex which can lead unwanted pregnancies and eventually school drop out. It also prevents the contraction of sexually transmitted diseases, which could lead to early death, it also prevents early marriages, it gives them knowledge on personal hygiene during menstruation, and including several benefits of education. Education in general, helps them to achieve their goals in life.

Last but not least, women have the right to vote during elections, and the right to stand for any position of their choice. This brings peace, unity, stability, and development, as fairness in decision making will be inculcated.

With the above rights, I encourage all to protect and keep well the rights of the woman in the society.
Thank you very much @vvarishayy for this wonderful contest
