Steemit Engagement Challenge || Three Reasons I love my country and Three Changes I would love to see by @mukky23|| 10% Payout to the community
INTRODUCTION
Good evening ladies and gentlemen of this wonderful community. I am @mukky23 and this is my first post here. Trust that everyone is doing well. I'll like say a big thank you to the Venezuela community for putting together this contest. It not only gives people the medium to talk about thier country, but also learn about other countries as well. A job well done. Without wasting much time, let's get to it.
NIGERIA
Nigeria also known as the GIANT OF AFRICA, is the home to over 200 ethnic groups. It Is located in the west Africa region between longitude 3 degrees and 14 and latitude 4 degrees and 14 degrees. It has 3 major languages which are HAUSA, IGBO and YORUBA. The main language spoken is ENGLISH. Nigeria has a land mass of about 923,768 square kilometers.
THREE THINGS I LOVE ABOUT MY COUNTRY
LAND FERTILITY: Nigeria had been blessed in alot ways and one of them is it's fertile soil for agriculture.
Agriculture accounts for about 24% of Nigeria's GDP. The soil in Nigeria is so fertile that you can plant almost anything. When you talk about Cocoa, the soil in places like Ibadan, Akure, Abeokuta, Auche allows that to be very possible. When you talk about palm oil, Places like Asaba, Niger and Owerri have the perfect soil for that. Places like Bauchi and Gussau are known for cultivating both peanut and cotton. All these mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg. When you talk about crops like maize, beans and millet. We also have tuber crops like yam, cassava, carrot and potatoes. When it comes to agriculture, Nigeria is as blessed as the word blessed itself.
THE PEOPLE: Ladies and Gentlemen, Nigerians are smart. Nigerians are funny. Nigerians are beautiful. Nigerians are everywhere. LoL. Nigerians are survivers. In most cases where you see Nigerians going abroad to study, they end up coming out on top of thier class. For the past two decades things have been going from bad to worse in terms of our economy, security amongst others. But Nigerians continue to survive and adapt to change.
VAST NATURAL RESOURCES: Nigeria is also blessed when it comes to Natural resources as well. Wether it's renewable resources or non-renewable resources. It's all there. From Gold to limestone, diamond, crude oil and many more. All these resources are scattered across the country. So when it comes to natural resources, Nigeria has almost everything you're looking for.
THREE THINGS I WOULD LOVE TO CHANGE
POLITICIANS PAY GRADE: Nigeria politicians are the ones who earn most in the country. Most of them collect millions of naira every month for not doing thier job. This has been an issue for decades and needs to be dealt with. We all know that politicians all around the world aren't the most richest individual in thier countries but in Nigeria, reverse is the case.
INSECURITY: This issue has been going on for decades and keeps getting worse with each government that steps into power. It has become such that the Nigerian people no longer have peace of mind anymore. The current government has no control over the situation. Personally, I feel like enough isn't being done to tackle this situation. We have the the resources to arm our security personnels with the necessary fire power they need, but for some reason, nothing is being done. We as civilians have a role to play as well because change doesn't start from the top, it starts from the bottom.
OUR ECONOMIC STATUS: The Nigerian economy has declined drastically over the years. Increasing poverty and reducing the standard of living. Inflation rates have been over the roof these past few years. In February 2021, we recorded an all time inflation rates of 18.17%. This lead to an increase in price of almost everything. From foodstuffs to poor purchasing power. As it stands, Nigerias external debt stand at a whopping amount of $38.4 Billion. At this stage, I'm not sure how we're planning to repay but something should be done in order to stop taking out loans.
CONCLUSION
Source
Without a shadow of a doubt, Nigeria is the giant of Africa. I mean why not, we have all that it takes. The people are exceptional. Yes, we have problems, all nations at a point go through difficulties as well. I believe ours also will come to pass. A very big thank you to the Venezuela community for organizing this contest and my very good Friend @badmus-official for tagging me to also participate. Do have a lovely weekend ahead everyone.
The Nigerian politician's pay grade is something worth real attention to, these guys are doing little for the amount they were earning and nobody was able to stand up to them, we all hope for a better Nigeria someday.
Absolutely. Instead of paying them such huge amount, some of the money could be channeled somewhere else. Thank you for reading.
Yeah talking about the economy status, it is not something to write about with the way things are. Seriously I fail to see progress in that aspect due to the expected people that are to move the motion forward are busy stocking their own net. But i pray things go well for your country. Greetings
Those at the top are driven by selfishness and greediness. Thank you for your kind words.
I like the fact you point out political pay grade as a factor you wish to change. A country devastated with poverty and our politicians are among the highest paid in the world, this just shows the amount these guys will go to keep the country where he is.
Exactly sir. I think it's hight time that something should be done to put a stop to it. Thank you for reading.
