There is no human-like robot that is more known or endeared than Sophia.
Since her birth in March 2016, six year old Sophia generated over 4 billion social media impressions, conducted one-on-one meetings with leaders of 17 nations, worked as a paid celebrity at over 200 conferences, served as the United Nations goodwill ambassador, earned 750,000 social media followers, appeared on the cover of 10 magazines, become the first robot passport holder and had time to file 12 patents (7 issued)
Sophia has been covered by media around the globe, and has participated in many high-profile interviews.
In October 2017, Sophia was given Saudi Arabian citizenship, and became the first robot to receive citizenship of any country.In November 2017, Sophia was named the United Nations Development Programme's first Innovation Champion, and is the first non-human to be given a United Nations title.
Up to now, robots have pretty much just been servants, doing the vacuuming or handling repetitive jobs on assembly lines. But technology is advancing to a point where robots will be able to work alongside humans as teammates, and I think Sophia the Robot is the pretty good proof of that... not to mention her sister Grace, who's a healthcare robot!
