Actually Sri Lanka is famous among the out of country mainly for two reasons. First one is tourism and other one is great quality tea.

So today I am going to tell you one of most important event highly attractive for tourists and local peoples in every year.
This is the story about Esela perahera.Otherwise you can call it Kandy perahera.

Sri lankan can understand what is the meaning of perahera.But this post not only for Sri Lankans.So I will explain you the meaning of perahera.

Actually perahera is same like parade of musicians,singers,dancers and various type of traditional performance in one time while traveling in street.

Kandy perahera doing for the sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha.The sacred tooth relic of Buddha is carrying with those performance and there are so many tuskers and elephants are proudly parading with lavish decorated.

Kandy Esela Maha Perahera history was going 305 AD years ago and this traditional religious event is Sri lankan most important event of every year.The last Randoli Perahera on the day of the Esala Full Moon Poya Day is considered to be the most colorful Perahera.

Kandy daladha maligawa ( Temple of tooth) with four gods devalas ( Natha,Vishnu ,Paththini,Kataragama) are together following this grandest oldest event and fire breathers,featuring dancers ,jugglers are made extra colouring for this traditional performance.
Thats why even non buddhism also love this event and waiting for every year July or August.
