RE: Steemit Engagement Challenge Week # 4 | Propose A New Steemit Project

A bulletin board is an interesting suggestion.

We see only the latest announcements by @steemitblog in the above Announcement section. If not a proper bulletin board, all-important posts could be categorized and added in the Useful Links section.

@the-gorilla, what do you think about this suggestion?

Awh it will be great!
I already know what my gorilla friend is going to say… “bullsh*t buffles brain” 😊

"bullsh*t baffles bulletin board brain"? 🤪

Adding links into that left-hand section from a coding point of view should be easy. The Steemit developers will be able to update it very easily (as they have done with the "Steemit Engagement Challenge - Season 1 - Week 4" update).

The difficulty is deciding what's "important". And how long it's important for. I don't know if it's just me - the "Newcomers Guide" must have so many comments now that the page crashes my browser so never loads.

I've thought for a little while that a consolidated list of links ranging from how to sign up, how to invest, etc. is essential if we want to onboard new users and grow the platform. All I can think of are difficulties - different exchanges in different countries, etc. and languages... all possible to overcome but a huge effort and a lot of dedication will be required to achieve it. In my research some time ago, I found a Chinese user who'd written a huge database of guides for Steemit (in Chinese)... it took some time for me to find the link but here it is - https://bookdown.org/baydap/steemh/aacontributors.html

Something like this is probably required 🙂

To start, you put a smile on my face. I don’t think we will, for years to come, forget the bullsh*t thing 😊

In answer to your reply. I’m so glad that you had to search for the Chinese post as that is exactly my point, posts gets lost.

Secondly should it be able to do getting something goiing would it not be possible to blog users to reply on these posts? Afterall they are informative posts. That will stop the problem of too many replies.

Lastly, the biggest problem problem I can see is the selection. Would it not be able to write a crawler to preselect posts? From there it can go over to a curation team.

Sorry for all the questions. I must be female after all 😊

We'll always have Bullsh*t Baffles Brain. The 3 B's. Which perhaps amusingly, was the name of the first pub that I regularly drank in 🙂

I must also have not thought that it was important enough to bookmark 😉

I have seen something in the API which suggests that you can turn off comments to your post so that people can't reply. I've never seen it in action to know whether it's possible or not though.

One thing that's just dawned on me in thinking about this is why there isn't more "brochureware". There's an FAQs page hidden away in the top right... oh... and a "Welcome" page. I've never noticed that before.

Perhaps this should be the next big contest. Create an index of what would be useful, and get the community to write it so that it's then copied into a load of brochureware to create the 5 B's.

This can work! I'm sure there are some hidden talents on Steemit who does this kind of thing on a daily basis.
As for myself, I will pass on it.

Luckily my name starts with a "P" and not "B". (•ิ‿•ิ)
Have a great evening!

Me too 🙂 It took me absolutely ages to review all of the entries to that "steemit reviews" contest!

Haha! It was my exact words to my husband! I told him that I am so glad that I don't have to review all the suggestions and that I feel sorry for you as it looks like you are the one who is the target.
My friend, only 3 more days to go! ☕☕☕

What happens in 3 days (or 2 days now)?

It will be a great thing if it is done. But what if such posts becomes too many, will they all be included? The hashtags are already great but the steemit team will then determine which to include in the useful links section when the links becomes too much. The reason is because ones it is approved that useful links can be added to a second, almost every user will like to produce something like that. But lest see what others think

It will be wonderful if everyone will want to write these kind of articles. Just imagine how the performance and quality of posts will improve 😊 We will all be learning.

You have a great point in where do you stop if the links are getting too many. Maybe a rating system like the crypto guys are doing? Top 10 posts then get listed.

The last thing I want to do is to create extra work but if I xan help others in a positive manner I will raise my hand and say I will help.
