RE: Altcoins Face Sell-off, but Outlook Remains Optimistic
I am surprised to see how easily curator teams are formed. I asked month after month how or what and the eagerly candidates dump me if I ask how or what they will vote for.
A few times the answer was: We'll see once we are selected.
I don't work like that. A team is a team and should stand for the same and take the task seriously. I cannot be 24/7 also a team mates babysitter. I invest a lot of time in showing and teaching, telling how to search and explaining why not to vote. In September this took me 10 hours per day. I don't like my time to be wasted by waiting till someone finally shows up.
SLC
The learning team taught me that it's not about learning but receiving an upvote and commenting is no part of writing. If those who say "I studied literature" only join there's no point in teaching since they already know. I noticed that the good ones don't practice what they learned so...
🥴
I read a few SLC entries and was shocked. I noticed the same like you. "High quality" posts by people who can hardly write and know nothing about the topic. You can easily pick them out.
I have no problem with searching for info but if you understand what you read it must be possible to write it down in your own words. That is the essence of learning. It would be great if the student would write in an understandable way so others can learn from them. What I read was was for the biggest part abracadabra.
It will be hard to teach something to those who just join to win. If text is translated it's harder to recognize plagiarism but it isn't impossible.
I truly believe there are useful courses but they are not promoted enough and it would be good if those eager to learn something can join. Not those who already know.
I had a look at the electricity course but the first, basic safety rule was not even mentioned. I lost my interest
The crocheting didn't work out well either. I had to ask many times how or what and noticed the only reason why I received an answer was because @inspiracion gave her opinion. I noticed the same during #wewrite and I wonder why.
The rules are set but not followed by all teaching teams but they are selected again. I didn't see anything of my interest so I rather try to scribble in the Art & Artist community. 😁
If it comes to the medical terminology it would be wiser to teach a bit Latin and tell what the word means. This can be very useful if you talk to a nurse or doctor. That can be boring or easy to those who already know but the average knowledge is low. I can imagine a copy from a site is the easiest way. I am on the other hand always late because I have to write it in my head first which takes time.
What to do about the team mates? I can't change it and couldn't have prevented it either. I will continue since I like it.
I guess there will be a new key? I just don't know where to ask or find it since everyone seems to be absent.
Did all your teams were succesful? You once did it alone. I am afraid that if it comes to knowing a background or the real person we'll never can tell for sure. Some things can be ignored but this can't. I still wait for answers.
I hope you are fine and your health and family is as well.
Thanks for stopping by. It's appreciated.

I think @irawandedy shared my thoughts already:
When I curated, I was very lucky. I think that there were 5 or 6 of us, all bar 1 or 2 I'd known for a long time on the platform. Whilst the remaining 1 or 2 didn't do anything naughty, their mentailty / approach was different - I suppose the group I joined up with were people that I knew well because we were alike in some (positive) way.
I've experienced similar with the Newcomers' Community - a couple of us pushed for a new way, one which would hopefully improve the experience but for whatever reason, others didn't (or couldn't) adapt and follow so in many cases, people are still being told to write an Achievement 1.
Similar to your comment, it was @inspiracion whose brain aligned but the task was too great for too few like minded people. Sometimes I see Steemit like this - too few like minded people wanting to do good and too many just wanting a dollar. Which is probably contributing to why the few are no longer as active.
I totally get what you mean. It can be tough working with a team that has different perspectives. But I had a great experience being part of the Curation Team. We all had the same goals and ideas, and we worked together to make sure that everyone’s voices were heard. I didn’t want to take on curation responsibilities just so we could keep things the same. I wanted to make sure we were fair and didn’t overlook anyone.
I think the Steemit Team initiative is a great idea. It gives everyone a chance to be part of the curation team and learn how to do it. That way, we can reach a wider audience and make sure that everyone’s voices are heard.
Today’s incident and a few previous cases have made it clear that choosing a curation team carefully is a big decision.
I’ve been out of the curation team for the past three months because of my eye health and the heavy workload at the office. I didn’t want to disappoint any steemians who wanted to join, so I didn’t register. I know that wasn’t the best decision, but I thought it was the safest way to avoid any disappointment.
I’ve known you since the beginning of the curation team, and I always admired your professionalism. You always make sure to uphold the team’s goals, and that’s something I really appreciate.
Regarding the writing of Achievement 1, I have two perspectives. On the one hand, it is not necessary to complete Achievement 1, as Steemit is not solely populated by users seeking to display their personal identities. Even if Achievement 1 were implemented, cheating would still be a possibility. Users could potentially register using multiple identities and manipulate the accounts to gain an unfair advantage.
Therefore, it appears that a tool capable of detecting users with multiple accounts is required. This tool could potentially identify the MAC address of the device used, allowing the curation team to be aware of potential support for the same user with a different identity.
I did enjoy my time as in the curation team - we always entertained each other when it was our day to curate. It never felt like we were working alone.
Unfortunately though, many greeedy users seek the power and their greed only grows. I've already noticed another "nomination of the week" go to a family member. One for me to keep an eye on in their next report which will arrive soon.
It's a very time consuming role. I'm not familiar with the latest criteria (clubs, etc.) but towards the end of my time doing it, my preferred content generally didn't fit the criteria. Perhaps one day, I'll apply again... although with my DAO project, I have the opportunity to make a difference via a different route.
Yes, this still happens.
@wakeupkitty's already mentioned the anonymity and privacy. The longer standing users and many of the witnesses would never allow this to happen for that reason.
More and more tools, check ups will it work? Does it matter if there's time invested in more than one account? Look at me. I even invest time in leaving comments as sc07 unlike others.
It's my believe that if it's scam there is always a way out. Plenty, of people join the same IP and devices especially if there's nothing else. I know I do, my children as well to take photos or print or whatever. If we would read, check we discover a lot and we can ask.
You won't believe how easily people share their lives, lies, or show themselves. So far privacy and anonymity what Steemit once stood for. If doubts a good solution might also be to not vote.
P. S. How about all those using ghostwriters? Letting others use their device? I am sure you know what I mean.

I can do for individual needs, and I know some people might not believe me, but in general, whatever it is they want to do… the most important thing is to be honest, keep trust, and be true to themselves. I’m not someone who says using more than one account is a bad thing, why not?!
If they do it right, not in a sneaky or manipulative way, and show positive things to consume and read, it’s totally fine. The thing I’m talking about is accounts that will do anything to make $. That’s all…
Generally on curation teams it is best to join people you know well. However, if you want to take a step and refresh the team, it is important to take risks, it is like everything in life, we cannot always be in a comfort zone, if we want to achieve something new, or make changes.
My experiences with the teams have been very varied, I have had very good, and not so good, teammates. But in all cases when something wrong was detected, that person left the team. I think the biggest fear is seeing ourselves involved in an unwanted situation, but as I say, sometimes the changes were also good, because it was the new members who adapted more quickly to the changes. It seems that it is difficult for people to uproot themselves from what they have learned, that is a desired skill to create new things, but very scarce.
What is most discouraging is the fact that a large majority do not seek to do things for their own sake, for example, they do not write because they like to write and create. But writing is just a means to earn a dollar, which distorts everything... Likewise, some (and I prefer to believe that it is a minority) are curators not to support good quality publications, but to benefit themselves. of that resource, which as we know is nonsense, like a short-legged lie that is always caught.
Anyway... My position is that it is important to launch into creating something and take the risk with what you have. It may be that in this way something different is achieved, which is what we sometimes long for to inspire us. I'm just a dreamer who continues to believe in what I like to do...
It is hard if not impossible to adapt something new if the dollar speaks.
I doubt the young/new Steemians are the ones easily to adopt something new. A certain basis (knowledge) is needed about how the platform runs and can keep running.
I you read the comment section of the steemitblog inviting new curators it says enough. At times it feels like a slapstick but it says enough. It's not about the love for the written word.
Btw: If I ask what I wrote perhaps one moderatir or curator will answer and can tell the reason.
It's my believe an SC represents Steemit and should do a bit more than upvoting and leaving a picture but it can be I am just an old fool living in a different world following non-existent rules and old fashioned ideas and am not worth to be read.
It's good to read issues within one team are always solved.
A good,relaxing weekend
🍀♥️
When I say new, I don't mean newcomers, I mean people who haven't experienced those roles.
I see that the current curators only continue to vote, for example under the rules of 30, 40%... They do not risk doing something different, to vote for example with different percentages. In order for them to do this they would have to read very well what they vote for.
A short time ago, I called one of them's attention through a comment because he voted for a post that seemed like a copy of the internet... It was a post written in the form of a list of those you find on the internet...
The old curators are very tied to routine, and I understand that they do it this way to be able to make 25 to 25 votes a day...
Anyway... Everything is very "automated", even though it is handled manually.
And of course things can be improved, but that requires an effort, which we would have to see if we want to make.
That's my opinion on this matter. For now I look at things from the other side, but I look at them.
Sadly this is the reality of Steemit. Perhaps if it were harder to determine where the dollar will be (i.e. Learning Challenges, Booming, etc.), people will feel the freedom to be themselves. Who knows what the future holds - a big part of me wants things to return to how they were when I registered - without the plagiarism.
The mentality indeed was different and I remember well how #alldutch fell apart but I was helped/kind of adopted by great Steemians. They became good friends although many died but I still speak to a few.
I never had my certificate but what they told me to do I did and it became a habit. One I think now I should change. I saw it as a normal to do my share but although I am older now and Steemit doesn't look so strange and difficult anymore I don't feel welcome in most communities.
It's true, like minded people are hard to find let alone honest, loyal ones.
I don't believe there's much to lose if you talk with others, say your opinion or try something new.
I like this platform and I am open minded but that doesn't mean I accept everything. If a stranger lies it's fine but if there's a daily chat, I inform, offer help I don't understand why I am fooled and treated like an idiot. I have no problem to talk about whatever bothers and I can handle it if it's said straight forward.
But... Out of experiences I do believe people cannot be changed.
I agree that if there are too few like minded it's hard to change something but also to do good. Since those who come for 1 dollar (only) turn out to be never satisfied and find it normal to be served.
Btw: Those few are still around but they post in their blog or in communities most of "us" never visit. They want to be left alone and a part lost the motivation to build Steemit together.
_Why is it we never receive an upvote? Is good original content no longer wanted, _I was asked.
The answer we all know. Staying in the own circle is more comfortable and guarantees the dollar upvote and more. Why search for a new face, new voice, why read, translate? Can everyone be a moderator or curator? I don't think so. You can't if you don't like to read, comment, lack time, hate it to translate or remember names, that's my opinion.
Thanks for sharing yours. I wonder if the solution is a "split" where like minded take part and work together or is this an utopian idea?
🍀♥️
Even now, I try to find new faces despite the experience that the effort doesn't warrant the rewards. When I do find somebody who might be interesting, it tends to coincide with them giving up.
I think that the "split" has already happened in many regards. There are pockets of communities outside of the Learning Challenges. Often these don't overlap, occasionally they do. "My Bangla Blog" seems to be well run. There's "Italy", "Steem Venezuela" and "Steem SEA".
I'm struggling to decide what Utopia would look like now. There were serious plagiarism problems when I joined but there felt like there was a lot more "personal" perspectives and articles. Articles that were of interest to me. The lands feel dry now and I wonder where these authors are now.
With my own account, I did find people writing and being kind of lost. I must say out of them most are very active today and post in different communities. A part no longer talks to me but that's fine.
Out of those (new) ones upvoted by the team in September, I noticed many left after one month. Also, others left before summer started because? Can be they come back once it's winter or there are holidays or.. it's not always clear. I do notice that if I am active and comment, answer questions and give a hand (even if they don't ask me but no one answers) they are more motivated to join and figure out what to do.
The good writers? I came up with a club from a different platform where I was asked to write on Steemit. They all went back. The good ones I met here? A part died and others are still writing on different platforms or are ill and can no longer write (who knows they come back).
I try to connect with people and give them a hand and with a part I have contact outside of Steemit and lately I see some come back who were very active and are good writers (some just need a push into the right direction or a pat on the back).
I am not sure if Italy is a split or more not accepted and therefore decided to go their own way or decided to stick to their own rules but the atmosphere is overall good which makes it easier to post for someone like me (no community for my nationality which I would never join again, and there are plenty who made clear that I don't belong to their country and my ideas are not appreciated to make the community grow.)
I once wrote about Steem Venezuela or Venezuela Steem and although many joined my contests in the past there never was a click with them and there's no support back. I once explained that it looks to me like those communities are all the same and I can't tell the difference (I don't speak Spanish which can be the reason but I also see the same faces being active). So if it comes to them and My Bangla Blog they indeed are a world on their own. A world where you easily feel an intruder. Btw there are plenty European and Western (American) writers who kept writing but they aren't in the mood to join all the fuss. After all those years they taught themselves to write and do it when I felt to it and next to that a big part is an investor.
Utopia.. most likely it is what we (personally) want it to be. Is it possible to check everything that is posted? I am afraid that's not possible and in most cases, all one can do is let it go and let (if there is a moderator) let this person deal with it.
I can only speak for myself but I see a huge loss of creative writing, story writers, artists, creativity. Here these words are just words attached to every text. I miss that and the fun we had but I keep searching and if there's one new motivated person per month I am satisfied.
A great afternoon/evening.
There's not much I can add to that!
I'd be happy with 1 per month. The reality is it's less than that.
I believe that person is around but hard to find unless you have the time to non stop search for them.
Thanks for sharing how it was, if we want we can do better.
A good weekend!
