Contest : About My Country

Hello my dear steemit friends. I am @sandimal from Sri Lanka🇱🇰. Today I am participating on the contest "About my country" which is organizing by @alfazmalek. So guys without wasting the time let's go to the contest.

As I mentioned above, I am from Sri Lanka. Sri lanka is my mother land. Sri lanka is a country of south asia. It is an island which is surrounded by the indian ocean. Our neighbor country is India. Our land area is about 65,610 sq.Km. Capital of Sri lanka is Sri Jayawardanapura Kotte. We have our own national flag. It is called as Lion flag.

Agriculture is the main source of livelihood in Sri Lanka. Similarly, tourism is the main source of foreign exchange for Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka also called as pearl of the Indian ocean. As it is covered by the ocean It has attracted the attention of foreigners. So many foreigners from different countries are coming to Sri lanka anually to visit the natural beauty of my country. Coastal area is the main attraction of Sri lanka.

Other than coastal area, there are so many places to visit in the central part of the sri lanka. Temple of tooth, Nuwara-eliya, Elephant orphanage, national zoo, Lotus tower, national meusium, trincomalee natural harbour, water falls and so many other places.

There are four main religions in my country. Majority is the buddhism. Other than that Hindu, Islam and catholics are living together in peace. For the protection of our nation we have main three armed forces. Sri lanka Army, Navy and Air force. For the public problems we have Sri lanka police service. So nothing to worry about our security.

Before 1948, Sri Lanka was conquered by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. Sri Lanka gained independence from the British on February 4, 1948. Since then, Sri Lanka has been run under a Sri Lankan government. Since ancient times, Sri Lankans have had their own unique culture, but later there is a valuable Sri Lankan culture with mixed cultural elements due to the influence of various invaders. The annual Esala Perahara Festival at the Sri Dalada Palace in Kandy is one of the best opportunities for anyone visiting Sri Lanka to experience its diverse cultural aspects at once. It takes place in August.

If some people want to face different climatic conditions in a very short time, Sri Lanka is the best place for that. Because Sri Lanka is a country close to the equator, there are three main climate zones: wet, intermediate and dry. Therefore, Sri Lanka has areas that receive frequent rains as well as areas with dry weather throughout the year. Sri Lanka has its own plains as well as areas surrounded by mountains.
