I'm interested in the AI improvements, as it seems like it uses a similar system to what Favor Chess does based on behavior and the comment. It does give me an idea I'll post later today.

Several must be omitted in 0.54 for various annoying reasons.
The lab will be used for things that are either half-done but not completely integrated into the game, or things that are otherwise somehow auxiliary to the game itself (a sandbox or scenario editor would probably also land here, yes) Certain things may slowly creep out of the lab into the game, but this will give a stage for certain unfinished things to actually be used by people.
About AI: the complete list is a few pages long, but the AI is still only allowed looking ahead 1 move. These changes are mostly centered around the worst-case scenarios and blindspots, but also some more generalized enhancements that make the AI slightly stronger overall.
I'm slightly interested in seeing what a neural evolution could do. It would start random but after a few days playing against itself with randomised armies it might get really good.
