I was using an all Hoplite+++ army, got nuanced, and was told by my opponent to try your army like I wasn't involved in its development at all. why

The Hoplite army development looked like this: Ryan was using 8 hoplite+s with a relatively standard army for a few matches, but had no real plan with it. However I noticed the 3x2 "brick" was possible and often happened accidentally, so I made a semi-rush army specifically designed around Hoplites, with 2 Rooks, 2 "Bishops" (one was a Queen due to lack of points), a Prince++, Dove+0, Princess++ on a2, and for e/f, utility units like Angel.

henclucky first started using 4 Rooks instead of 2, a Prince+0 instead to minimize points spent, as well as the Bat+++ at a2, which is a neat novelty due to using its horizontal far move, though I'm not convinced it's good. I think it's most appealing because the standard setup of Bishops and Rooks creates a lot of empty points, which I personally used on Queen but didn't see effectiveness, but others are using on Rook and Bishop upgrades.

Because 4 Rooks and 2 Bishops is such a usual army type, you don't mention using utility units which I was constantly experimenting with, like PoisonMage/Alchemist/Fencer/Angel, just stuff that is meant to trade or do things before the Hoplites come in. It might not be the best but it was worth experimenting with.

Currently I'm using an all Hoplite+++ army, which does have that massive weakness of constantly downtrading since it's in front, even sacrificing a RoyalGuard+++ for a Hoplite+++ doesn't feel very good, but it takes advantage of Angel passive a lot more.
