RE: Comment contest//Rock music genre

I can't wait to see the entries but thus far it's just @kozanozdra and I talking about MUSE, great voices and guitars...

When does rock start, when is it hard rock? If I may believe the Dutch info provided rock is where several instruments are used. If it's just that rock exist since ages.

The song I like to share with you is Hocus Pocus (1971) by Focus. This Dutch (indeed Dutch) rock band started in 1969 in Amsterdam and the last released single is Fjord Focus from July 5th, 2024. Do we have a winner here?

Of course, the band members grew older, were partly replaced, and of course, there was no faith in them as they started and here I am again with @kozanozdra that all those who said they would never make it are WRONG so WRONG and I doubt they will ever admit it (the human's memory is veeeery short.

I love the name of the band, I love the title of the song (fits great with me), I love the transverse flute, the guitar play and the drums.

The drummer reminds me of my childhood neighbour who was also a drummer. LOL The best thing in school was music class where I always tried my best to get the timpani when choosing a musical instrument. Yes! It's mine, mine, mine.

The song starts with the flute and the magic can be felt ...hocus pocus? What? Are you sure this is rock? The words sang are these spells?

I decided to share a video of the band FOCUS performing their song about 20 years later.

It still has its magic.

For those who like to sing along... (do your best)

I invite my friend the DJ @golden-rain, shall we write a few lyrics like this to keep the hocus pocus business alive? @diodao?
@almaguer do you have a rock song to share?
@khursheedanwar I invite you to join since you call yourself a rock star but I never heard one single song from you. How come?

A cover of this song you find underneath. Great voice but the magic has disappeared

Wow! I didn’t expect anyone to share this band here. The track is incredible and truly unique. It breaks stereotypes, and that’s something I absolutely love. A few years ago, a friend introduced me to this exact song, but performed by the original band.

What’s amazing about them is that, as a progressive rock group, they showcase incredible musical diversity, blending rock with jazz and classical music. Whenever musicians can freely pursue their passion without conforming to producer-imposed standards, that’s when you get real art. @wakeupkitty Excellent choice!!)))

I'm sharing a song with you from this Hungarian band from the 80s. They’re known for fighting against communism and were often banned. The song is from the movie "Kopaszkutya" The film tells the story of a man trying to form a blues-rock band in one of the working-class neighborhoods of Budapest. You might like it

There is magic in music and the unexpected. Like you see there's no need to sing words to understand what it's about or?

It's like Oompa Loompa said my son...

though the reason they live in happiness is because they are surrounded by chocolate. LOL
