My mind needs rest

This little head of mine never stops thinking, sometimes I wish it had a switch that would allow me to turn it off to let it rest a bit, although I guess the closest thing to that, happens when we fall asleep, because when we wake up it already feels more relieved.

On the one hand I love having my mind active, because it allows me to come up with so many solutions, however, there are others that I would like to stop it. How nice it would be to be able to choose what to think, probably with some work we can nuance that situation a little, but it is not something simple.



In reality our brain is always working, although we are not conscious of it, what weighs are those reiterative thoughts that are uncomfortable for us, for the sensation that they produce in us, for example when we make a mistake, which makes us feel very bad or when the idea of what someone did to us disturbs us haunts us.

It turns out that the best thing we can do, is to substitute one thought for another and it is something that requires training. It is a goal of mine to learn to meditate or mentally visualize scenes that convey tranquility, even those that lead me to where I want to go. It is something very productive.



It is incredible how our mind spends all day ruminating, when I pay attention, the internal dialogue is permanent, sometimes it even seems to act on its own. The truth is that we must learn to live in the company of our thoughts, as with fear, it is best to manage them, because they are part of our life and we cannot simply turn them off.

The more we try to get rid of something, the more we have it present, it is like when I can not sleep and I try so hard to do it, that I end up spending the night awake; or as I read once, if you say you will not think of a pink elephant, you will inevitably see in your mind the pink elephant.



I think it is better to schedule a long talk with ourselves and our thoughts, in order to negotiate the best way to find peace. Everything happens for a reason and everything has an implicit learning, if we must apologize to someone, it is better not to wait and if we must forgive someone, it is better to attend to that need. We must take what is troubling us and go to its root and resolve what it wants to tell us.

When we apply the maxim that if something has a solution, why worry and if it has no solution why worry, then we can assimilate and understand that we are spending time and energy on something that does not take us anywhere.



In my case, my mind is often occupied with our goals and how to achieve them, I think it is over-stimulated by the opportunities that I see possible and I get very excited about them. As you will see, even proactivity needs to be dosed, nothing in excess is good.

So to gain calm, I must slow down my emotions and then I will surely be able to continue living in harmony with my brain, which does its best job to keep up with me and I thank God for having given it to me, I would not change it for any other.
