Did you know that the next world war will be caused by water? Most people probably do not think so. That's because they don't know that usable water is running low. Some people expect this to happen in the future. The main reason for this is the addition of industrial effluent to the water. When world's population grows, Human needs are increasing. As a result, the number of factories in the world is increasing. So, water pollution increases.

Now you may understand, with the increment of population, both requirement of water as well as water pollution of water needed for humans. Therefore, it is our responsibility to protect water to the best. Today I am going to talk about another method of purifying water. If you have read my article, you will know what the hardness of water is. I am talking it about how to remove temporary hardness .I am talking here about a commonly used method to remove permanent hardness in water. These are all experiences I had at work.

As I said in a previous article about water treatment, Iron of magnesium and calcium presence as it is chloride and Sulphates called permanent hardness of water. We need to remove the calcium magnesium ions that are here to remove hardness.

Ion exchange resins have many forms. Some of them that use to remove permanent hardness are represented as RNa. They are insoluble in water, but exchange ions. When hard water passes through this resin, the calcium and magnesium ions in hard water are replaced with the sodium ions in the resin.

It removes Ca and Mg ions from the water, which contributes for the Hardness. The media is Sodium based resin which exchanges Ca and Mg ions and soft water is obtained at the service outlet of Filter vessel. Externally, the filter has manual multiport valve to assist in various service requirements like Filtration, Backwash, and Regeneration.

The filter vessel here is filled with resin and water passes through it.In this process, the sodium ions in the resin are gradually removed, and then salt water in the brine tank regenerates the resin.
