I used to think that the internet is provided to Sri Lanka through satellites. But in Sri Lanka, the internet is provided via cable over the sea.
The Internet is provided not only to Sri Lanka but to most countries through sea routes. Fibre optical cable is used to provide this internet. These cables travel to almost every country in the world. On average, these cables can be wrapped 28 times the length of the Earth.

Here SEA - ME - WE stand for South East Asia Middle East Western Europe. This cable connects European and Middle Eastern countries. SEA ME WE 3 is the longest cable in the world.
These cables connect to Sri Lanka,
SEA ME WE 3 to Mount Lavinia
SEA - ME - WE 4 to Colombo,
SEA - ME - WE 5, also connected to Matara.
The SEA - ME - WE 5 cable that connects to Matara has a speciality. Normally the only cable that gets the main trunk of the cables that Sri Lanka gets is the one that gets to Matara, all the other cables get to the Branches.

The internet from these cables goes directly to the landing centres and then to service providers like SLT - Mobitel, Dialog, Airtel, Hutch in Sri Lanka who take this cable to their datacentres and give it to us.
These days everyone knows that the internet in Sri Lanka is slow. The reason is that they use the Internet to an unbearable extent. So they have limited the speed. Otherwise, they say, the Internet could crash.

actually i don't like to talk about your signal strength. You never have signal and and when I want to connect you via online at that time ,my anger increases. 🙄🤭
Can we satisfied with it? Never. the situation in Sri Lanka is very bad. The authorities talk about online education as if they have given all these facilities to Sri Lanka. They should get out of the AC rooms and see how much people suffer from working with online. Because most of the people have no facility to connect due to the shortage of signal strength
Before Covid, there was no plan to provide online education in our country. and before Covid, the Internet was socialized as something that should not be used by children. Most schools did not have an official website or at least an email address for the school.
