This monotonous life is really boring. Actually, it's a bitter experience. If you can get rid of it for a while or so, it is worthwhile and brings a lot of energy to the mind.

So, with the decline of Covid-19, some of my friends and I went to visit an ancient temple in a friend's village on the last Poya day.

It is about 69 km from Galle to Elamaldeniya Rajamaha Viharaya. This temple is located near Pitabeddara town which is about 20km away from Galle town to Akuressa town.

We left at around 9 am to visit this temple which has many ancient values. I joined the city of Galle with my three friends and was able to go there around 11.30 in the morning.

Upon entering the temple, the usual dragon pandals can be seen.

A little further on, a small bodhi tree has planted. We worshipped it and started our journey to the top of the temple
First, we found the tip of a very clear waterfall with blue water.

From there we washed our faces, cleaned up and started our journey upstairs and we were amazed to see a large stone staircase at the top.

Its design is excellent. We came to know that it was done by King Saddhatissa.

The temple is surrounded by a large tranquil forest. The coolness of the forest is indescribable. The healing properties of essential oils have long been known in ancient times.

At the top of the temple, you have to climb about two thousand steps. Surprisingly, no fatigue.

When we went to the top of the temple, we were able to see the stupa.

My friend told us that there is a lot of folklore about this temple.

When King Saddhatissa was constructing this temple a person had come. When the king asked who you were, he said that I was the lord of this land and forest.

The king has made a statue of him in the cave temple which is clear about him. According to legends, this is the arrival of King Bandara.

We also learned that if we make a mistake on the temple grounds, we will be punished by God.

People who visit this temple do not forget to pay obeisance and receive blessings from God.

We leave the temple grounds at around 3 pm but time passes without us noticing the beauty of the environment.

When we got home we were caught in a torrential downpour and many unforgettable beautiful memories were gathered that day.

It's our duty to protect these places and ecosystems for our future generations because I felt that these valuable places are being destroyed. Let's talk about another impressive place in my next post.
