We all Love Kandy

Kandy or Maha Nuwara in Sinhala always a memorable place for everyone. There are places that we fall in love even without knowing a pure reason. Some people love Temple of the tooth. Some love lake. Some love lake round. Some love Peradeniya Campus. Anyhow many people love Kandy.

I love to visit Kandy too. We often use train to travel. Because it is less tiresome and cost effective. We travelled to Colombo by bus. It was around 5 in the morning. It took lesser time as no traffic on the road in the early hours.

Our aim was to catch the intercity train from Colombo. Train was less crowded. But only left seats randomly. So we decided to stand near footboard. As it was an intercity train, there is no rush in the footboard. And it was a sunny day. So we could comfortably be there.

It was around 10 when we reach Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. We had to follow the map as we both did not remember the way correctly. We stepped in to a road side shop to buy flowers. I prefer bringing flowers from home whenever I visit a temple. But as this is far away from home, it is easy to buy from a nearby store.

As it was a Sunday, the place was bit crowded. We got the chance to participate in the special pooja as it was around 11am. Door was open so that we could witness it. We offered flowers. I preferred jasmines and he wanted white Olu and Red Olu. The we stepped down and light up oil lamps.

As we had some spare time, we wanted to go to Peradeniya Botanical Garden. We had to travel by bus. Before taking the bus, we bought some foods from a Hela Bojun shop which I love very much. Our target was to catch the train around 3:30pm from Kandy. So we hurried to move around.

We had the things we bought while sitting under a tree. It was very calm. Not big crowded. But as usual some school students, families and couples were here and there. We enjoyed walking around and decided to leave with some spare time to manage with traffic.

We got the same intercity train that we used in the morning and the footboard. We could reach Colombo around 6pm. As train was bit crowded we went back by bus. We could reach home at around 9pm. ❤️
