A Friendly Cricket Match

As a habit, our Advanced level maths gang organizes friendly cricket matches annually between our school and Devananda College. This time the match was scheduled to be held at Kumme Ground, Baddegama on 9th October 2022. I love to watch those matches with our boys’ gang.

Around 7 in the morning, I left with my father and Amila just reached Depot Junction to pick me up by car. Then we travelled straight to the ground and this time ground preparation and organizing works were assigned to our school. Therefore, we had a lot to complete before starting the match.

The toss was won by our team, and we decided to bowl first. Devananda team lost their all the wickets less than hundred runs. So our inning started before the lunch. But the luck was not on our side. We lost all our wickets with very small score on the board.

Then we had lunch. After lunch, we lost the remaining wickets. Then Devananda college started to bat with more winning chances. They played really well and built up a good score board. Around 4 in the evening, they declared the inning and we were asked to come to the ground for our second inning.

We could start a good inning but with time, lost all the wickets bringing the win to the Devananda College. We should accept all wins and losses. So, we congratulated our oppositions. After award ceremony we went back to our homes with a lot of memories.
