I am so curious on this concept. You know some times we go through the same procedure but without any idea. you have explained it very simply with an example which is good.
You are totaly correct we have to go into sea, if we want to swim. Like that we have to involve in the task to know the challenge on it and achive it.

I believe in the flexibility of plans. That's why it's important to have alternatives.
If you want a new phone. One goal is to earn money to buy it. What happens if you don't get enough money?
Answers: a) find a cheaper phone b) change your brand c) find more money, etc.
If we have several alternatives we can achieve the goal.
We must learn that if we repeat the same method without changing anything, we will have the same result. That is why we must have alternatives and flexibility.
