Increased Poverty amidst Covid.

Today I went to town to attend to some work I had. I was surprised to see so many homeless people everywhere there. I know the usual people hang around in our town before. But today I saw many new faces. Most of them had many heavily packed luggages. They were wearing kind of good outfits. They seemed new to the streets. They were sitting here and there under the scorching sunlight. Most of them looked like around age 60. It broke my heart to see their faces filled with sadness and hopelessness.

This pandemic has hit us hard in many ways. Many have lost their incomes and even homes. Due to travel restrictions people had to stay at home. This made a huge impact to the class difference in our country. 'Work from Home' concept can be practical for very few number of people. A large portion of the workers and earners in our society make their income by daily attending to work. Labourers, site workers, cleaners, and many others are dragged into poverty by this covid pandemic. Our government and the economy is not strong. The authorities lack the ability to maintain and control this situation successfully.

Many of the people do not own a house for themselves. They are settled in rented houses or apartments most of the time. During these hard times most of them are troubled as they are incapable of paying the rents. As this travel restrictions and lockdowns in our country are continued for more than 2 years by now, the economic status of many families has dropped to the bottom. I'm not going to talk about the disastrous situation in the education system.

The people I saw in the pavements represent an one side of the victims of this pandemic. They have become homeless. They have nowhere to go. There are a few parties that are devoted to help these fallen. But there are so many who are forced to live in the streets.

Let's be aware. Be responsible. We can end this pandemic. Let's make our to a covid-free country by following health guidelines 100%. Make sure that you are always following them before pointing your finger at others for their mistakes. Take care of each other. Be human. Give a helping hand whenever possible. Work hard. Let's rise from this downfall with all the fallen.

Yes. There is no limit for a virus to cause harm. It is high time for humanity to rise.🙂
