What is FPS?

Frames Per Second, or FPS, is like the heartbeat of videos and games. It's the number of pictures shown every second, making sure everything looks smooth. Okay, I may need a video to explain this better, but I may have to use the space I got at the moment anyways. This concept started way back when movies began, with filmmakers figuring out that showing around 24 pictures per second made the story flow just right.

In movies, choosing the right FPS is an artistic call. Most films stick to 24 FPS, giving that classic movie feel. But sometimes, filmmakers mix it up—more FPS for action scenes to make you feel like you're right there, or less for a moody atmosphere.

This movie magic of FPS also spills into video games. Gamers love a high FPS because it makes the game feel real and responds super quickly. In competitive gaming, having a lot of frames per second is like having a secret weapon—it makes the whole experience more exciting and realistic.

But it's not just about movies and games. FPS is like a VIP in virtual reality (VR). In VR, you want a high FPS to avoid feeling dizzy and to really believe you're in that virtual world. Low FPS can mess with the experience, making it less fun and sometimes uncomfortable.

Keeping everything looking smooth, though, is a bit of a tech challenge. As we want cooler graphics and more realistic stuff, tech wizards are always figuring out ways to make sure the FPS stays high. They're like the unsung heroes behind the scenes.
