Plot: Terry Malloy, an ex-prize fighter who has turned into a longshoreman, witnesses a murder of a dock worker. After meeting the beautiful sister of the murdered man, he starts to feel guilty and starts to find and listen to his conscience. Terry, who once was part of them, stands up to fight against the corrupt mob bosses of the Union.

The film concentrates on the lives of longshoremen workers and the nature of their unions. And a boy's struggle on standing up for justice and for himself. Apart from the beautiful performances from Marlon Brando, Eva Marie Saint and Lee J. Cobb. That brilliant cinematography and Leonard bernstein's score just made the film 'Alive'. On the Waterfront is literally a great film.

In this well-delivered crime drama, Marlon Brando delivers one of the greatest performances ever from Hollywood. Actors like Paul Newman or Steve McQueen pop into the head when looking at his character, but well, Brando nailed it. A career defining performance. Interesting, here, he's Terry, who fights against crime. And in his other best performance as Vito Corleone in The Godfather (1972), he is crime. And he nails at both roles.

Oh this was the debut performance of the girl I loved from North By Northwest, Eva Marie Saint. Interesting enough, her debut performance won oscar for the best supporting actress surpassing both Grace Kelly and Judy Garland, waiting for the win with both of their own career best performances.
