DARK ANGEL/ I COME IN PEACE (1990) – USA
Dir: Craig R. Baxley
My Rating – 3.5/5
As I always say I like action films especially the 80s Hollywood action movies have some kind of an impact for me through their entertainment. Now dark Angel Is a buddy cop Hollywood movie, this body cope can be even considered as a subgenre of movies. Mostly 80s and 90s, we can see many buddy cop movies coming out from Hollywood, like Lethal weapon and David Fincher’s masterpiece, Se7en. I don’t quite have an idea at what time did these kind of movies originated in history, but I don’t recall seeing them in 40s or 50s. Or maybe they tried but the people didn’t like these at that time. it's just basically two cops chasing a mystery or a crime, usually these two cops are different in personalities, more like opposite. Two people like that working together, the confusion brings some kind of an entertainment to watch, and that's the basis of this Buddy Cop Hollywood movies. You can usually see that The film takes some of the runtime always solidified the relationship between two.
Dark Angel is technically a sci fi action film, like Terminator (1984). It’s actually,, much like Terminator because both these films feature two aliens coming to the earth. All sorry but in Terminator it goes 2 people from future. Anyhow, two outcasts, let’s say. But similarly one is hunting down human beings, and another one has come to earth stop him. The latter gets deceased, And now it’s eccentric cop Caine (Dolph Lundgren) and his new partner’s job to prevent the slaughter.
Dark Angel for me, is not as great as Lethal Weapon, lot of flaws and stuff, still it got that amazing 80s vibe with the visual style and the electronic super cool background. Lundgren cannot act, we have to admit, so the way to get the best out of him is to place in for a stone character, without much emotion. Dark Angel does that, and also it got some awesome dialogues.
“I come in Peace”
-“And now you’re going in Pieces A*hole.”
Can’t say it’s a must watch that worth your time, but if you like classic Hollywood action movies as much as I do, this won’t be a waste.
