A Hindu Wedding

Hindu weddings are totally different from ours. It’s a combination of many religious and cultural functions. Day before the wedding day they do some prewedding functions too. We particiapted in the wedding function along with the lunch.

When we enter the hall they have started their wedding function. It's smilar to our poruwa ceromany. The difference is it takes a long time like two hours or more. A hindu priest do their wedding function according to ther culture. It includes all the events like going around seven rounds with their traditional drum sounds. We were given some rice to throw the stage where the bride and groom were standing, at the end. After finishing all the events of the wedding function registration of the couple was done.

We have to wait till about 1 pm to finish their wedding ceromany. Then it was time for the lunch. As a ritual they provide a vegetarian meal on their wedding day. Their dessert also not like ours. They've used Kesari as their dessert. Unfortunately I have no photos to share with you.

Wedding hall was decorated using flower garlands and their lightning is always goes with a dark theme which give no light for the photos. I wore a salvar kit, and my sister wore a saree and she looked goregeous.

It was very new and enjoyable experience for me!
