Trip to North |Two days in Jaffna

Jaffna is the place I was been curious to visit for a long time but didn't get a chance to go there until last December. This was the first planned long trip with my husband after we got married. This time I planned the whole journey which was a little challenge since non of us haven't been there before.

In such case YouTube is the best place to get ideas . So I went through many videos and made our trip plan.

Mainly when we plan a trip there are we need to consider about

1.Mode of transportation
2.Food and accomodation
3.Places to visit

Mode Of Transportation
We choosed to travel by train so that we needed to travel to Beliatta railway station because it's the nearest train station to us. First we traveled from Beliatta to Pettah and then took the night train to Kankasanthurai . As I can get Railway warrent issued for government workers we didn't need to spend money on railway tickets. As we didn't book tickets early we couldn't get first class tickets but second class wasn't much bad.
Thought the journey we traveled by bus , train and pickme tuk tuks. There's a really useful app called RDMNS.lk which is a really good app to get all the information about trains.

Train journey wasn't much uncomfortable but next time I prefer getting first class booked. Pickme rates are comparatively low in Jaffna and we could have get them at every location we traveled to.

Food and Accomodation

As we traveled from train I arranged some foods to bring with us because we weren't much sure about buying food from outside. Meanwhile we travel by train we had some snacks and tea from sellers comes to train.

In Jaffna we found multiple good places to eat. Throughout our journey we enjoyed vegetarian foods a lot . I already planned visiting some authentic Jaffna food venues and on the first day we visited the famous Malayan Cafe for lunch. Also we were able to taste some delicious foods and snacks authentic to Jaffna. I will write about our whole food experience in next article.

Places To Visit

We planned visiting both Jaffna and Anuradhapura. On first two days at Jaffna we visited

1. Nainative Island / Nagadeepa
   2.Jaffna Fort
   3.Nallur kovil
   4.Rio ice-cream
   5.Urumpirai grape fields
   6.kankasanthurei Beach
   7.point pedro

As it was our first visit to Jaffna we knew nothing about there. With help of Google and pickme we easily reached our destinations. Language barrier was there but Many Jaffna people were kind enough to help us as they can.

On the third day ...

We missed the morning train to Anuradhapura so we took a bus to there. We arrived Anuradhapura around 11-12 p.m . There was a huge puja on that day and whole city was crowded with people.we enjoyed many Dansals that day . Many people have organised free food offerings. That night catching the train was the most difficult thing and that train journey from Anuradhapura to Colombo is an unforgettable trip in my life.

It's difficult to describe the whole journey because every moment was a new experience for us. Visiting Jaffna was like visiting a part of India. There culture was a new experience for us . Always filled with amaze.
