Hello friends, happy new month to you all
I am so glad to be here today to discuss with you on this wonderful topic: Family Is A Gift That Last Forever. in this contest I elaborated and answer all the given questions.

(1) General information about your family(How many family members do you have, who are they?)

I am born in to the family of Dr and Mrs Edet Okon Simon, my immediate family we are eight in numbers my Dad Dr Edet Okon Simon, my Mum Mrs Charity Edet Okon and my siblings their are Dr James Edet Okon, Rad. Peter Edet Okon, Deborah, Mary(jasminemary) and patience my younger sister. My extended families there are not living with us, but we do visit them. My grand-parents are late.

(2) What do they do?(you can write about each member of their age, job, their responsibilities etc)

My Dad name is Dr Edet Okon Simon he work as a medical doctor in the university of Calabar teaching hospital (UCTH) he is about 60yrs old. He is the head of the family, his responsibilities in the family as a father is to provide our basic needs such as feeding, clothing pay bills such as house rent, electricity bill water bill etc he provide money, and ensure every members of my family are well taken care of.

My Mum Mrs Charity Edet Okon, is a secondary school teacher. in her level 16 two years from now she will go on retirement. She is about 51yrs old, she is the mother of the house her role is to manage the home she also support my dad financially, she takes care of cooking aspect, she control the kitchen and she is very good at managing things in the house, my dad called her manager. because she can manage the family very well.

My elder brother Dr James Edet Okon is a young medical doctor, he is working at the Total check medical specialist hospital in Abuja, he is about 31yrs old he do support my family members financially, and he often visit home during festival period. especially during Christmas. he is planning of getting marry soon.

My second elder brother Peter Edet Okon is a medical Radiographer working at image diagnostic medical laboratory in Lagos he is about 28yrs old he also support my family financially he often visit during festival period.

My elder sister Deborah is a nurse working at Enugu general hospital she is married to barrister Andrew Akpan with one kid Child a baby boy, she do support my family financially, and she do visit with my nephew Michael.

My younger sister patience she is still in secondary School SS2 she is the last born child, we called her mummy pet. She usually do most of the domestic house work such as cooking, washing of clothes, sweeping of the compound with broom and house etc.

(3) What is your role in your family?

At present i am not staying with my family because i am a student of the university of Calabar, but during holidays i usually join my family, i support my younger sister, to do domestic work such as cooking of food, washing of plates and clothes, sweeping of the house and compound, etc i don't help my family members financially because i am not yet a worker, but a student, so i concrete and focus more with my academic that is reading of my books.

(4) How does your family support you?

My family support me alot they paid my school fees, paid for my accommodation, send me monthly allowance for feeding and other school payment, they usually send me food stuff and money to purchase text books handout, without my family i won't really progress or succeed in life, so my family they are very supportive and helpful to me.

(5) Are there any special tradition/customs in your family? If it is, what are they?

When all my family members are around every morning we gather in the living room to pray, my Dad always said a family that lives together pray together, that pray is the key for uniting everyone in the family. Every Sunday, we all go to church as a family In the evening we eat together, and discuss on any issues if no issue to discuss we can share joke, story or even watch movies as a family.

(6) What is your best memory with your family?

There are a lot of amazing memories with my family, let me discuss the once i can remember, during my elder sister traditional marriage and during her church marriage (white wedding) a lot of unique memories and funs was shared as family all my family members, including some of my relatives contributed money an bought sister Deborah a car( BMW) on her wedding day.

(7) What bring your family together?

During festival period like Christmas all my siblings come back home to celebrate the Xmas with my parents, Christmas is the main celebration that usually bring my family members together even my elder brothers that live in Abuja and Lagos come back home, and they do stayed up to two weeks during the Christmas holiday, and they usually come with a lot of gifts such as bags of rice, oil, a lot of food stuff. also during my community festival period called ( new yam festival) all my family members come together.

(8) How do you deal with difficulty situation as a family?

I could remember when i was still tender then i was 12yrs old my elder sister use to beat me a lot then she has not married, also my brothers James and Peter use to fight a lot there was a time my mum and dad fought my daddy beat my mummy, but we are still a very United and loving family admire by friends and neighbors the secret has been God, we do pray as a family every morning so it also bring peace and unity in the family.

(9) Why does your family important to you?

My family is so important to me in various ways as follows: They said blood is thicker than water, i just have great passion for my siblings even if they upset me, we grow up together, from same parents, so the affection for my family members is so strong

None of us is perfect. So there is no way our family can be perfect. Arguments and disagreements can arise between family members. But over time, that is likely to change. Because there is always love in the family. Definitely, there're hard times in families. But we have to face them in unity. It's really nice to see your family. God bless you all!🤗💛
