A Night walk - 5% for SL-Charity

in Steem Sri Lanka2 years ago

Once in a blue moon, we will have a free day without any academic work. A day to reset. Time flies these days and we couldn't even imagine how that happens.

Tuesday was a such free day for us which means we sleep a few more hours. Some early birds wake up us and ask to eat buns or something which they had bought from "චූන් පාන්" three-wheeler. Then I'll have a bath and turn on the laptop and browse the internet.

The alarm to go to the university is notified by the power cut. Without a fan, it is very hard to stay in the hostel room. So we get ready and directly go to the "ගුල" which was one of our canteens. Normally it has a long queue. After lunch, we'll have a little chit-chat and crawl towards the gym to play badminton just for time-passing. After badminton, we rush to the ground to the playground to play cricket. Then we play until it gets dark.

Then the most burning question occurs. What should we have for dinner? We always face this problem every day and spend at least one hour talking about options. Then someone proposed, "let's go to the Katubedda junction and flip a coin." 😂

So 15 of us got ready and started the long walk to Katubedda. At that time there was a power cut and roads were completely dark. When we reach the junction a bus to Mount Lavinia came and we got into it without any second thought. When the conductor came we had no idea where to go. So everyone took tickets to the last stop. There were protests everywhere, Katubedda, Maliban junction, Rathmalana, and Mount Lavinia

I'll tell you about the food hunting journey tomorrow since it was an interesting one. After having our dinner we watch the protest at Mount Lavinia. Since there were 15 of us some people thought we were also a part of the protest.

People started to sing so we decided there was no more significance to waiting. So we got on a bus and came back to Katubedda. The situation was the same. They are singing and dancing. We felt sorry about it because the actual reason they were motivated to raise their voices is fading away.

So again we started our walk to the hostel. Normally we should return to the hostel before 10 pm. But the time was 11 pm then. We met the care person in our hostel on the way. He was born and as a Tamil who speaks Sinhala well."ආ උබල රට හදන්න ගිහින් එන වෙලාව නෙහ්!". He was a funny and flexible guy. These are mandatory qualities to control a boys' hostel, especially which is filled with hundreds of final year students. He didn't make any objections to entering. After a cool bath, I slept like a dead person.

Thanks for reading guys! Cheers to all!

Here is my SBD Earned and Steem Powered Up status for the last 30 days. I love powering up!!

This is the same for me as well. Powercuts remind me that it's time to go to uni because the heat is unbearable in the boarding without the fan.

Especially these days, it is burning hot.

All together you have take some fun, and also you shown your social responsibility. That is good...

We would love to be a strength to them if they did it properly.

We felt sorry about it because the actual reason they were motivated to raise their voices is fading away.

Many people come to protest without knowing the reason.

That's a terrible situation 😶
