Public speaking in Sinhala after so long

There is a travel freak living inside me and sometimes the universe conspired me to travel even if I didn't actively plan it. Even though I have fully dedicated my time for uni and office work these days, I was asked to go to wadduwa for college work.

Our college conducts welfare projects, and as a part of that, there was an awareness program which happened at a school located in wadduwa. My superior asked me if I'm okay to join them for the project and I said okay. I had to wear a saree for that, she said, and I said okay. Then she asked if I can handle the introduction and conclusion of the project and I said okay for that too. She wanted me to prepare a sketch for that beforehand, and again, I was okay. Then she mentioned that we have to do it in sinhala medium and there, it took some time for me to say okay. I haven't done public speaking in sinhala for so many years and I use sinhala mainly in informal settings now, so I was taken back first thinking how can I keep the formality when talking in sinhala as I had lost that practice now. Anyway I said okay for that too cz if I can manage English obviously I can manage my mother tongue.

So we went to wadduwa on the due date considering it as a day out. I didn't expect the students to be interested at these sort of awareness programs much but they were actually very engaging. They were all outspoken as all wants to say their amswers aloud and engage with the session. It was a new but useful experience for me and I'm learning many new things by being a part of different kinds of projects like this except for just teaching there.

Saree day, it was!

We planned to go to beach after the project but it was very warm there, so we all forgot about that idea. However, it was good to travel to wadduwa at least for work purposes rather than just staying in the boarding.
