IPL 2024 Playoff Race

IPL is not just a cricket tournament it's like a world cup now, with millions of fans interested in IPL nowadays. Ten franchise teams play against each other for the title. IPL 2024 started on 22nd March, and we are now in the end of the league stage. Everyone is fighting to secure a post in the Playoffs, which is like to a semi-final. However the scenario is different; here, the top 4 teams will qualify for the playoffs and they have to play 2 qualifier matches and one eliminator match.

Teams which are in the first two spots of the points table will play against each other as qualifier one, and the winner will automatically qualify for the final. Then, teams which are in the 3rd and 4th spots will play the eliminator macth, and the losing side of the eliminator will be eliminated from the tournament. The winner of eliminator and the losing side of the qualifier one will play against each other in the qualifier two, and the winner of qualifier two will play against the winner of qualifier one in the Final. In my personal opinion, this is a very fair structure for playoff matches.
The latest edition of IPL is ongoing these days, and teams are fighting for the secure playoff spots. Here is my analysis for the playoff teams.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are almost qualified for the playoffs, having acquired 16 points. Compared with the last editions, these points are enough for qualification, and both teams consist of in-form players and are very well-balanced sides. Among them, Sri Lankans favor supporting Rajasthan because Sri Lankan cricket legend Kumar Sangakkara is the Director of the Rajasthan side.

In the 3rd place is Sunrises Hyderabad, who have acquired 14 points on the table. They have two more games remaining, and they need to win only one to lock their spot in the playoffs. For Chennai Super Kings, they have three matches remaining, and they must win two matches. If they are able to win one match, their destiny will depend on other teams.

Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Supergiants have two games remaining each, and they have acquired 12 points each. They must win their remaining games, and still, their destiny depends on Net Run Rate (NRR) and their spot also depends on KKR and SRH's matches.

RCB and Gujarat Titans have very little chance to qualify for the playoffs. They must win their next two games with big margins, and still, they have to depend on other teams. Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings have two games each remaining, and they have already been disqualified in this edition.
