36th MANAGEMENT SPACE CONTEST! "The Leader is Creative" // Effective communication to achieve it // by @angeljenny64

Being a leader, comes with a lot of responsibility and duties and creativity. It may be difficult but it’s one of the tools that recognizes the potential of leadership in you. I want to specially thank @fjjrg for this contest Let me start by expressing on the meaning of a leader;

“A Leader is view as an individual whose creativity influences a group of individuals to attain a common goal and to give a significant result whose goal is either attain by mutual cooperation and cohesive behavior of an individual”. A creative leader infuses a sense of positivity and directs others to reach the specified goal in any way without minding if it will affect his life.

A leader of creativity is someone who stands not only for his cause but takes responsibility and motivates other individuals also and doesn’t become bossy. There is a big difference between being a boss and a leader. A leader is a motivation for others and inspires individuals to aim high and attain that aim but a boss only supervises over his subordinates and sit down to watch without any encouragement.

My challenges as the Secretary General of Rivers State Law Student Association, University of Calabar.

To be very honest, managing people is one of the most creative aspect of a leader and also the most challenging tasks in both school and the society at large. Being a student and also a leader call for a lot of hard-work in both studying and managing the affairs of the association. You really need to extract the best out of your team members and guide them in the any situations. Remember, a leader is just like the captain of a ship, one wrong decision and the entire blame comes on you.

The biggest challenge i ever face was to listen to everyone’s opinions and to document it down as fast as I could because I can’t afford to ignore anyone for it not to turn out to be my biggest mistake and would the person who neither respect me nor bother to pay attention to me when I’m giving my opinion. There are different types of people that surround you when you’re performing your duties craving to get the position from you but will never understand how difficult it is.

I was also expose with the challenge of winning my subordinate heart and to seek their view in anything I want to do. I believe a true leader has to win the trust of its subordinates. I become more hardworking and more creative. Most time, you would be surprised to see that the colleague who used to call you his best friend has all of a sudden started avoiding you and is actually jealous of your promotion and has problem with you being his team leader. A leader, most importantly has to understand the psychology of each individuals and how to associate with them and never to feel bad about the sudden change in the behaviour of my colleagues.

Another challenge was making people work together. I was always hold responsible for any problem that occur in the team. In a situation where there’s misunderstandings, conflicts and mistakes. I try to develop the habit of listening to both the parties and for us to resolve any problem together. It is your responsibility to ensure your colleagues are happy in the meeting and to entertain all their habits both negative and positive.

“Remember, a boss is always referred to as a Hitler, no matter how much he thinks for his team”.

As a lead, You need to inspire people and for them to look up to you and treat you as their mentor.
