Japanese Magnolia Festival

Japanese Magnolia Festival

There's a temple in Fujieda, in Shizuoka prefecture called Jurinji that has a magnolia festival every year. Of course, this year it was cancelled along with everything else, because of the unnecessary panic of the corona virus, but we went anyway.
Luckily for us, the festival was still going, just the food stalls were not there. Many people were walking around looking at the flowers, which were in full bloom. The temple itself is a medium sized one, with a few magnolia trees within the temple complex. Outside of the actual temple is where the majority of the magnolias are, planted on the hill opposite the temple and in various other locations. Its obviously a lucrative time of year for the temple, because more magnolias have been planted recently along the hill which extends from the temple to the other hill where the full grown magnolias are.
There was a light up in the evening too, which we didn't go to, but looks beautiful, anyway that's for next year.
Along the small road leading to the magnolias, above the car park were some farmers selling their oranges, who were making a very good trade. I bought some oranges and made some marmalade with them, which turned out to be very good!
This is a relatively small festival, out in the countryside, but it was very popular when we went and on a warm spring day, which it luckily was when we went, its a really nice place to spend an hour or two.
Also in the temple, you can get a shrine stamp, which I got. This stamp has a magnolia on it, which is a nice touch.
We had a very pleasant afternoon out in Fujieda, a city which is full of flowers all through the year.
Here are some pictures I took of the festival:
