Did you know chickens have a sweet tooth? It seems that way with ours at least. They love chocolate cake, especially. 😊
Even the younger ones will do battle with the older ones for a chunk of cake. 😊
We love the fuzzy feet that Floyd (darker one) and Pansy (lighter one) have. 😊
Floyd has decided he’s a brave boy and now flies up out of the brooder box every time we open the lid, cheeky fellow. 😊
It’s been quite cold and windy here this week with loads of rain, but we’ve also gotten some gorgeous sunset colours to make up for that. 😊
Pancakes are also very popular with our hatchlings. 😊
I met a new-to-us squirrel that appears to be missing their ears, that was a first for me. 😊
This female chased away the one without the ears and I haven’t seen it back yet, hopefully, it will return though. 😊
These two had a long discussion, not sure about what, but they chatter for about 5 minutes before another squirrel showed up and chased the left one away. 😊
We have more dogs than we do seats in our living room, so they like to double or triple up on the spots we do have, like this chair that the beautiful Mya (upper) and her lovely sister Lady (lower) are in here. 😊
The hatchlings all come over to see what I’ve got, but only a few of them are willing to eat it out of my hand, the others are happy to knock it out of my hand with their beak or feet and then eat it off the logs/ground instead though. 😊
Ducky (left) and Floyd (right) will add some interesting genetics to our flock when they go out to join our main flock. 😊
Made this coffee cake to get us through the weekend and it didn’t even make it through the night. Our son and daughter-in-law popped in for a visit and we finished the whole thing, it was that good. 😊
Good thing I made more than one. 😊
We’ve really been enjoying the barbecued potatoes, corn, peppers, onions, carrots and peas that we’ve been having with our meals. 😊

We sadly woke to find out that Phyllis and her hatchling Lingo were gone. We think they left the barn early Friday morning and got snatched by a predator, we don’t know which as there was no evidence of a struggle or anything to be found, thankfully, whatever got Phyllis and Lingo didn’t also get her other hatchling Duo. We found Duo safely inside the barn with Jack and Jemima when we went out to say good morning and open the coop up. 😊
I took a moment while we were searching high and low for Phyllis and Lingo, to stop at the pond and say hello to the Goldfish. 😊
This weekend it’s hamburger soup in the crockpot/slow cooker. 😊

The younger hatchlings got to join the older ones for a trip out to the herb garden area and they had a blast grabbing worms and grubs as my handsome husband turned over the dirt for our herbs and possibly some tomatoes and beans if we find a way to do it so everyone still gets enough room to grow big and healthy. 😊
They make the cutest little chirping sound when they’re all happy and full. 😊
Floyd (dark on left), Ducky (dark center) and Nyjer (dark right) all blend with the dirt so well I thought this was a picture with just Rebel (light one on the left of shot) in it at first. Those three should have no problem blending in around our garden beds too, so we’ll have to watch where we’re stepping while they’re outside. 😊
These little goobers are much harder to catch than you’d think, but, if you can coral them together slowly, they’ll all huddle together and make returning them inside after a nice long scratching session so much easier. 😊
This is a new female that has decided we’re safe enough to hang out with this week, that’s my knee she’s hanging out on. 😊
