In the world of football, we have seen several defensive strategies that different managers use. On one hand, you would find a manager who believes the best form of defense is attack and on the other hand, you would find another one who thinks you need to draw out their attack and initiate a counter attack when the opportunity arrives. What is your take on this.

Personally, I believe that the best form of defense is attack, This is because playing an attacking formation pressurizes your opponent, remember, the aim of each football match is to score and attain to a win. When you pressurize with an attack, the opponents looses balance and you will be in possession of the ball while they will be focused at defending.
Waiting for the opponents to attack and then you defend is not a right option because they may end up scoring you even and that keeps the opponent on the safe side while, your team will now be fighting to equalize.
Also, waiting for the opportunity to come before you attack is risky because that opportunity might not come and even if it comes, football is a very unpredictable game, You are not sure that your attackers will score with any opportunity because the opponents are not lame, they'll surely fight to prevent you from scoring.
This is the reason, Manchester City is on top of the premier league table, They are known to be an attacking team, even when they are winning, they never relent while Chelsea on the other hand have lost many of their recent matches because they keep on passing the ball around their own half of the field while they wait for they opponents to come out before they attack. This formation have not proven to be productive to the Blues because those opportunities no longer appear as expected and they end up loosing the match.
Also, playing an attacking games makes your own defense to be at rest and that gives them enough time and opportunity to be more calculative and prepared to know how they will stop any attacker and return the ball to their own attacking teammates.
The success of any football match is victory and a defensive team does not attain to victory and that is why, Jose Mourinho had only one trophy the last time, he managed the Manchester United team for 2 seasons.
Attack on the other hand is one of the attributes of a beautiful football game and team.

Para mí la Mejor estrategia defensiva es la que aplica Guardiola, sencillamente tener la posesión de la pelota el mayor tiempo posible, mientras más tiempo el equipo tenga la pelota, el rival no podrá hacerle gol y esa me parece que es la mejor manera de poder defenderse dentro de una cancha.
Primeramente se está cuidando que el rival los ataque por qué no tienen la pelota, luego ellos con la pelota estarán atacando a su rival y eso genera una gran dinámica donde no solo te estás defendiendo si no que también estás atacando.
También los equipos de Guardiola cuando pierden la pelota van rápidamente a recuperarla, hacen una presión constante todos en grupo para tener la pelota rápidamente, eso sucede por qué mientras uno tiene la posesión el rival es quien más desgaste hace por qué está corriendo detrás del balón y el equipo que la tiene está fresco manteniendo su posesión, entonces cuando pierden la pelota tienen más energía para recuperarla rápido que el rival que ya hizo un gran desgaste para tenerla y por esa razón para mí no hay mejor defensiva que tener la posesión de la pelota.

Saludos amigos, el mejor sistema defensivo que me encanta ver y que pienso resulta mucho es el 5-3-2; 5 defensas, los dos que están a los extremos laterales que suban y bajen por las bandas, 3 mediocampista de creación, esto hará que el contrario encuentre tráfico en el medio campo y una pared delante del arquero. cualquier ataque del contrario puede ser defendido por todos los ángulos, cortando cualquier ataque, garantizando una recuperación del balón y poder armar rápidamente la mejor defensa que puede existir que es el ataque en una combinación que cualquiera puede anotar, pero con dos francotiradores en el frente. For me the best form of defense is the dominating and possessive one. I like when a team starts play from the back and is able to keep the ball away from the opponent.
I prefer playing a possessive and dominating at that will involve the keeper and defense so that they won't loose focus in the match and the team will be able to hold the ball and move the ball in their own pace and plan. Another important aspect of the plan is to be able to camp and get the ball back from the opponent as quickly as possible when we loose the ball. When a team is able to do these things it will be hard for the opponent to play and execute their gameplan and also play as a team, because their morale and hope will be shattered by the dominance of the team.
So for me the best form of defense is the possessive one, that involves all the players and team, instead of the defenders only. Being able to hold and build play from the back till they frustrate the opponent and get a clear chance to score.

Football has it own pattern of play. What may work for a team may be a problem to another team. The defensive strategies was mostly used by Jose Mouriho and the pattern worked for him. Massive defense and massive attack. The strategy worked at then but not longer now as managers have been able to study the approach and come out with an answer.
The best defense strategy will depend on the depth of the squad you have at your disposal in sense that players can cover up for their team mate during set pieces. Back then best defense strategy was known as packing of buses but it was working then, at least we know that 1 goal can win a match.

En mi opinión una de las mejores estrategias defensiva es jugar con 5 defensa, ya que jugarían con 3 defensas y los 2 laterales se unen a la defensa y retrocediendo el mediocampo, pero a su vez teniendo esa mejor defensiva ese equipo es muy
poco ofensivo ya que solamente va a tener un delantero. Hay muchos equipos que utilizan como la mejor defensa tener la pocesión de la pelota, pero una de las mejores es jugar 5, 3, 2 para mí es la mejor defensa.

For me the best defensive strategy is attack. But it also depends on the pattern of the opposition team, when you play an attacking football and try to kill the game by out scoring your opponent then you sit back and absorb the pressure and as well hit them on a counterattack
