FOXES LEAVES IT LATE TO CLINCH COMMUNITY SHIELD
Brendan Rodgers men lifted 2021 FA cup at Wembley courtesy of a well taken penalty from Nigerian attacker Kelechi Iheanacho.
The foxes included Ryan Bertrand in their starting XI to make his debut for the club after being signed on a free from Southampton while British record signing Jack Grealish was left on the substitute bench for Manchester City.
Leicester city were the better side in the first half as Jamie Vardy forced saves from Steffen who started in goal for City. However, the foxes dropped momentum in the second half of the encounter with both sides making substitutions with Jack Grealish coming on to make his debut for City and Kelechi Iheanacho popularly known as senior man Kelz coming on for the foxes.
The game was thought to be heading into extra time until Iheanacho was brought down in the penalty box by Nathan Ake to hand penalty to Kelechi Iheanacho who slotted home for 16 yards in the 89th minute to secure a win and a first community shield to Leicester city.
