In this event, everyone tells their memories about football. People will talk about their happiest, upsetting or most excited moments here, and maybe they'll relive that memory they left in the past. I have many memories about football. I am a fan of Galatasaray and I know more or less the football history of the last 25 years. Galatasaray always tried to make its fans happy during this time. Won the UEFA Cup, won the Super Cup and played quarter-finals in the Champions' League. I still remember these memories, but today I will not tell you about the excitement Galatasaray gave us.

I remembered the events occurring Turkey to Croatia match.

Matchday 1 -- Portugal 2 - 0 Turkey | Switzerland 0 - 1 Czech Republic
Matchday 2 -- Switzerland 1 - 2 Turkey | Czech Republic 1 - 3 Portugal

Turkey was struggling in Group A with Portugal, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Turkey played first match against Portugal and lost. In the second match, a win against Switzerland and got 3 points. Before last matches, Portugal has 6 points, Czech Republic and Turkey both have 3 points and Switzerland has 0 points.

The final match would be played between the Czech Republic and Turkey, both teams were equal on average. If the last match ended in a draw, according to the rules, there would be direct penalty shootout, which added excitement to that match.

Turkey, Czech Republic 75 minutes of the match despite the 2-0 to enter the quarter-finals, winning 3-2. Turkey had us happy, we are very excited scatter symbols in this game. But the greater excitement had yet to come, and we were not aware of it.

We are a large family. We are a very crowded and large family with my uncles, aunts, family friends and their children. Living in close proximity to each other has a great role in maintaining this sincerity. In this crowded family, we always have a tradition to watch these kinds of matches at one of our homes. Of course, there was no Corona in those days :) One of the things we miss the most from the past is watching games with a crowded family.

To watch all the matches of the Euro 2008 quarter-final between Croatia and Turkey played on 20/06/2008 family together, we went to my uncle's house. We were about 30 people in that house that day. When the match started, all the seats and the floor were occupied, with no room to step. Our uncle, whom we lost last year, was among those who watched the game with us.

When the regular time of the match ended with a 0-0 draw, overtime started to be played. In fact, the first half of the overtime was 0-0. When the second half of the extensions started, everyone was biting their nails due to the tension. In the 119th minute, when Klasnic brought the Croatian team 1-0 ahead, everyone said 'ok this is over, it's up here! said. I remember seeing the tears in my uncle's eyes when I turned and looked back. We were very sad.

Semih Şentürk's goal came before everyone could understand what had happened while they were preparing to disperse in silence. Everything was out of control at that moment. There was a minor chaos inside the house. While everyone was shouting and shouting with joy, a crackling sound caught our attention for a moment, and when we looked in the direction of the sound, one of the seats in the living room could not stand the human weight and split into two. At that moment, everyone would have realized that he was exaggerating a little, that we felt very embarrassed that one of the sofa sets that my newly married uncle bought before the marriage was broken. It was such an embarrassment that even winning the match that went into overtime in the penalty shootout could not fulfill our pleasure. In fact, everyone watched the semi-final game at their own home. The sofa incident taught us for a while.

When an image of the Croatia-Turkey match, I see a video or something else; I remember the tears in the eyes of my uncle, the broken seat and the embarrassment we experienced, and I understand how beautiful the common memories were with our loved ones in the past.

Benim futbolla ilgili bir çok hatıram var. Ben Galatasaray taraftarıyım ve son 25 yılın futbol geçmişini az çok bilirim. Galatasaray bu süre zarfında taraftarlarını daima mutlu etmeye çalıştı. UEFA Kupasını kazandı, Süper Kupayı kazandı. Şampiyonlar Liginde çeyrek finaller oynadı . Bu anıları hala hatırlıyorum ama bugün size Galatasaray’ın bize yaşattığı heyecanlardan değil, Türkiye Milli takımının bir maçını seyrederken bulunduğumuz ortam ve maçın gidişatıyla bize yaşattığı duygu selini anlatacağım. Ayrıca yeteri kadar yaşlı olan herkes de bana katılır ki bu maç tüm Türkiye haklı için çok önemli bir yere sahiptir ve hafızalarda hala tazeliğini korur.

EURO 2008 | HIRVATİSTAN - TURKİYE | ÇEYREK FİNAL (20.06.2021)

Bu maçın hikayesini anlatmaya başlamadan önce Milli Takımımızın turnuvada hangi takımlarla oynadığını ve sonuçları hatırlatayım.

1. hafta -- Portekiz 2 - 0 Türkiye | İsviçre 0 - 1 Çek Cumhuriyeti
2. hafta -- İsviçre 1 - 2 Türkiye | Çek Cumhuriyeti 1 - 3 Portekiz

Türkiye, A Grubunda Portekiz, İsviçre ve Çek Cumhuriyeti ile mücadele ediyordu. İlk maçını Portekiz'e karşı oynadı ve kaybetti. İkinci maçında ise İsviçre'yi yendi ve 3 puan aldı. Son maçlar öncesinde Portekiz'in 6, Türkiye ve Çek Cumhuriyeti'nin 3'er puanı vardı . İsviçre'nin ise 0 puanı vardı. Son maç ise Türkiye ile Çek Cumhuriyeti arasında oynanacaktı ve her iki takımın da attığı gol ve yediği gol sayısı aynıydı. Eğer son maç berabere biterse kurallara göre doğrudan penaltı atışlarına geçilecekti ki bu durum o maça ayrı bir heyecan katmıştı.

Türkiye, Çek Cumhuriyeti maçını 75. dakikası 2-0 geriden girmesine rağmen 3-2 kazanarak çeyrek finale çıktı. Türkiye bu maçta bize çok büyük bir heyecan yaşatarak bizleri mutlu etmişti. Ama heyecanın daha büyüğü henüz gelmemişti ve biz bunun farkında değildik.

1. hafta -- Çek Cumhuriyeti 2 - 3 Türkiye | İsviçre 2 - 0 Portekiz

Biz kalabalık bir aileyiz. Dayılarım, teyzelerim aile dostlarımız ve bunların çocukları ile epey kalabalık ve geniş bir aileyiz. Birbirimize yakın yerlerde yaşamamızın bu samimiyetin korunmasında büyük payı var. Bu kalabalık aile içinde bu tür maçları her zaman birimizin evinde bir araya gelerek izleme geleneğimiz vardır. Tabi o günlerde Korona yoktu:) Şimdilerde geçmişe ait en çok özlem duyduğumuz şeylerden biri bahsettiğim ailecek kalabalık şekilde maç izlemek.

20.06.2008 tarihinde Hırvatistan ile Türkiye arasında oynanan EURO 2008 çeyrek final maçını izlemek için de tüm aile bir araya dayımın evine gitmiştik. O gün o evde yaklaşık 30 kişiydik. Maç başladığında tüm koltuklar ve zemin doluydu, adım atacak yer yoktu. Geçen sene kaybettiğimiz eniştemiz de bizimle beraber maç izleyenler arasındaydı.

Maçın normal süresi 0-0 beraberlikle bitince uzatmalar oynanmaya başladı. Hatta uzatmaların ilk yarısı da 0-0 bitmişti. Uzatmaların 2. yarısı başladığında herkes gerginlikten tırnaklarını yiyordu. 119. dakikada Klasnic, Hırvatistan takımını 1-0 öne geçirince herkes 'tamam bu iş bitti, buraya kadarmış!' dedi. Dönüp arkama baktığımda eniştemin gözündeki yaşları gördüğümü hatırlıyorum. Çok üzülmüştük.

Herkes sessizce dağılmaya hazırlanırken ne olduğunu anlayamadan Semih Şentürk'ün golü geldi. O an her şey kontrolden çıktı. Evin içinde küçük çaplı bir kaos yaşandı. Herkes sevinçten delicesine bağırıp çağırırken bir an dikkatimizi bir çatırtı sesi çekti ve sesin geldiği yöne doğru baktığımızda salondaki koltuklardan bir tanesi üstündeki insan ağırlığına dayanamayıp ortadan ikiye ayrılmıştı. O an herkes biraz fazla abarttığının farkına varmış olacak ki yeni evli dayımın evlilik öncesinde aldığı koltuk takımından bir tanesinin kırılmasından dolayı çok mahcubiyet hissetmiştik. Öyle bir mahcubiyet ki uzatmaya giden maçı penaltı atışlarında kazanmak bile keyfimizi yerine getirememişti. Hatta yarı final maçını herkes kendi evinde izlemişti. Koltuk olayı bir süre bize ders oldu.

Ne zaman Hırvatistan- Türkiye maçına ait bir görsel, bir video yada başka bir şey görsem; rahmetli eniştemin gözündeki yaşları, kırılan koltuğu ve yaşadığımız mahcubiyeti hatırlarım ve geçmişte sevdiklerimizle beraber yaşanan ortak anıların ne kadar güzel olduğunu anlarım.
