The Best Team Won In The End(Villareal Vs Man Utd - Thoughts After The Game)
Manchester united did it again.
This time around they taught they could actually put up a bad performance in the first half and then recover in the second half as they always do.
I must admit that after Moreno's opening goal I taught Manchester United will be able to win this match and maybe get 2 or 3 goals past Villarreal.
This time they were bad from the start of the match to finish.
They were lucky to not have conceded 2 goals even before the end of the first half.
The game started with Manchester United knocking the ball around from left to right and in the opening minutes of the game both teams had their chances but they were not dangerous.
Manchester united in the first 20 minutes had better chances to score but they could not utilize them.
Cavani had the best chance of them all when a lofted crossed came into his path only for him to miscontrol it on the edge of the box.
After that Cavani's chance you could not see any other dangerous plays.
Until when Cavani fouled a Villarreal player in the process of trying to get the ball.
And as we all know, Manchester utd are not good at defending set pieces and they did as they always do.
Lindelof was supposed to be man marking someone but he left the most dangerous striker for Villarreal who was free and had only one task of getting the ball past De Gea.
After their goal, they decided to sit back and defend and from the way they played you would have realized that it was in their gameplan to do so.
They defended so well up until the end of first half.
In the second half Manchester utd brought up the heat and decided to go for it.
Even though they tried to possess the ball but you will realize that they could not actually hold the ball as the opponents were easily stealing the ball of their players.
Up until Cavani's equaliser, it did not look like they were going to get a goal.
But Cavani was able to be at the right place in time to get to that ball in the opposition's box.
At this time it was now one all and you could feel that who ever got the second goal would have been the winner.
Only for Marcus Rashford to mess up a golden chance in the box when a beautiful pass was played into his feet only for him to miss the target.
I don't quit understand why Rashford was left in the game for the whole match.
He should have been replaced in the 20th minute cause he did not have any impact.
The match taken into extra time was only a waste of time and Villareal should have won the cup without going through much trouble.
David De Gea missing the penalty summed up manchester United's whole performance in the match.
All I can say is congratulations to Villareal on winning their first ever european trophy.They deserved it.
