Football didn't get the attention it has all around the world until the 1960's and 1970's where players were respected and well paid by their clubs and through their endorsement deals. The increase of number of fans of the various clubs has generate more revenues through the sales of ticket. Players are paid well to maintain a good relationship with the club and to also make them happy to build their morale. The average pay per week for players in recent time is $100,000. Why so huge sum of money for a single player?

SUPPLY AND DEMAND

Supply and demand explains why football players are well paid. In so many jobs across the world supply and demand is what determines your salary and football is one of those. In this concept when there is little supply of skillful players with huge demand for them, the prices go up. In the news recently, i'm sure you have heard the price Chelsea is trying to spend on Halland to sign a contract with Chelsea. This is because he has the skill which few player have, so the demand of him is high.

What makes a player valuable? When every team needs a player but just one team can get him to signed for them, that makes the player a valuable player. And also we have a lot of average players, which means we have big supply of them and small amount of demand so the price have to be low if not no one will purchase.

SPONSORSHIP

One thing you should know is player don't live on by their weekly salary. Most of their wealth comes from other channels like partnerships, advertisements and sponsorships. They get all these deals because of their audience or fans. The more fans you have the more well paid deals the player signs. The money Messi will sign for a deal will be totally low if Mount is to sign the same deal. So audience is very important, especially to sponsorship.

Christiano Ronaldo is the most followed person on Instagram with almost 300 Million followers. Now imagine a company want to partner with him to sponsor them on his account. How much do you think he will earn through that? Now i think you are understanding why player get so much paid.

INFLATION THROUGH TIME

Inflation is the sudden increase in prices. In this situation, prices doesnt go up because the asset is more valuable but because money is devaluating from its past value.

In our market these days when we ask of the price of stuffs today and go back in a year time to ask of the same stuffs. The prices wont be the same, there will an increase of price and this is not because the product is more valuable but because of inflation

This is applies to football. You remember when Ronal was bought by Real madrid in 2009 and he was the record signing with $94 Million. Everyone was amazed at that time bacuse no one has ever bought a single player with that huge sum of money. Now Players are being bought over $200 Million. In years to come player will be bought in higher prices adn its going to be normal

CONCLUSION

Football is one of the sports which is the most popular and interesting game in the world. Players are well paid for working almost all their life to play football professionally for just 15 years. They get more incomes by their endorsement deals apart from their weekly wages paid by their clubs.

I love football very much. I myself am a fan of London Arsenal, but I still think the salaries that players receive are cosmically inflated)
