★HISTORY

• Barcelona is one of the biggest football clubs in the world. We all know more or less about its dominance in the football world.On October 22, 1899, Juan Gamper published an advertisement in Los Deportes, expressing his interest in establishing a football club. On November 29, he received a positive response at a conference in Gymnasio Sole. Eleven players were present at the conference. They are: Gualateri Wilde, Luis D'Oso, Bartomeu Teradas, Otto Kunzle, Otto Mayer, Enrique Ducall, Pere Cabat, Joseph Lobet, John Parsons and William Parsons. Thus was born the football club Barcelona.

★STADIUM

• The first stadium in Barcelona was the Camp de la Indestria. It had a capacity of only 6,000. Club officials consider the facilities to be inadequate for the growing number of members.

In 1922, the number of supporters of the club exceeded 20,000. They provided financial support to the club, which enabled Barcelona to build the Camp de Les Cort‌s stadium, which had an initial capacity of 20,000.After the Spanish Civil War, Barcelona began to attract more spectators to the stadium. As a result, the club had to undertake stadium expansion projects more than once: in 1944 the gallery's canopied side, in 1948 the South Gallery and in 1950 the North Gallery. After the latest expansion, the stadium has a capacity of 60,000 spectators.Expansion of Les Corts Stadium was no longer possible after construction was completed. Two consecutive La Liga titles in 1948 and 1949, and a contract with Ladislao Kubala, who later scored 196 goals in 256 games, further increased the spectators at the Barcelona stadium.The current capacity of the stadium is 99.6, which makes it the largest stadium in Europe.
