CONTEST ENTRY ON FAVORITE FOOTBALL ROLE BY @massachussets

Greetings, everyone! Before I get started on today's submission, I'd like to express my gratitude to @njaywan for organizing this fantastic contest. Also, congrats to the winners of the previous contest; they deserved it.

Worldoffootball has put together a fantastic contest about football positions, to which I am delighted to contribute. There are so many positions in football that come together to make it complete. That is, a complete football team would not exist without one of these positions. Individually, we have a vested interest in a variety of positions that we aspire to. A list of roles were mentioned, a few were referee/assistant referees, scout, club president, football manager, football player, mascot. Despite the roles mentioned above, I chose the role of a player.

One of the most common sports roles is that of a soccer player. The work entails professional soccer play and is a common career option in some parts of the world. A soccer player usually begins their career with a low-ranking team and works their way up the ranks, gaining fame and experience before they catch the eye of a team higher up the rankings – climbing as high as possible. When they aren't competing against other teams, soccer players are normally working physically and honing their teamwork skills, which is a critical component of a team's success in the sport.

WHY DID I CHOOSE THIS POSITION

Before i write about why I would love to give a brief history on how i began playing football. I began playing football with my brother when I was between the ages of five and six years old. Kicking a ball with short legs and tiny feet was a difficult task for me. Even though I didn't understand the rules, I continued to play football. As a result, I joined a coast team and began learning the rules of the game and how to kick the ball straight into the net. Football became my favorite sport and hobby after I went through the process of learning the rules and kicking the ball correctly. When I was twelve years old, my ambition was to be a popular football player like David Beckham or Ronaldinho, because they were the top players at that time.

Now, let me share some of the reasons why I enjoy my role as a football player.
Perseverance is one the main reasons why i love to be a player because anytime players lose at first, they become angry. They soon learn to realise that if they stick with it, their playing performance will improve.
Injuries, cold spells, bad coaches, and other obstacles can be encountered by players. All of this instils in us the will to persevere and this helps us to become better individuals in the game.

Another reason i would like to add is fitness . Since i became a player i have been able to get in shape and develop healthy habits that can last a lifetime for me. I have learnt what it takes to stay in shape and put in the effort to get in better shape.
I have also grown a lean and muscular physique. i have gained stamina and muscle mass as a result of my daily running.

Since i became a Player i have been so much concerned about my diet and substance use even though i dont use any. If i wasnt to reach my full potential, then i have to stay away from drugs and junk food.

ROLE OF A PLAYER

First and foremost, despite the fact that my favorite position is that of a striker, I would like to educate myself and others about the different positions of a player. I'll only make a few touch ups on all the roles.

Goalkeeper

• The most defensive position in soccer
• The goalkeeper's main role is to avoid opposition goals
• He also organizes the defense and constructs play from the back
  A perfect example is David De Gea

Full-back

• Lines up on either side of the defense
• Marks opposing wingers
• Supports the wide midfielder ahead of them
• Can overlap and send crosses into the opposition box
• Takes throw-ins frequently
  A perfect example is Sergio Ramos

Wing-back

• A modern version of the full-back
• Overlaps and crosses into the opposition box
• Still marks opposing wingers when necessary
• Expected to remain on their touchline
  A perfect example is Marcelo

Centre-back (stopper)

• Shuts down opposition attackers
• Can use zonal or man-marking tactics
• Brings the ball out from the back
• Always tall and physically strong
• Bravery and heading ability ideal, for use in either box
  A perfect example is Virgil Van Dijk

centre-back (Sweeper)

• Races to fill holes when the defense is breached
• Less concerned with man-marking
• Reads the game from deep
• Joins midfield build-up when in possession
  A perfect example is Rio Ferdinand

Position: Defensive midfielder (ball-winner)

• Sits in front of the defense
• Protects teammates as they go forward
• Harries opposition attackers
  A perfect example is Ngolo Kante

Position: Attacking midfielder

• Directs play from behind the strikers
• Creates opportunities for the attackers to score goals
• Technique and ingenuity are essential
• The ability to shoot from distance is advantageous
• Historically associated with the No.10 jersey
  A perfect example is Bruno Fernandes

Position: Defensive midfielder (deep-lying playmaker)

• Sits in front of the defense
• Deep-lying playmaker
• Distributes to teammates close and far
• Sets the pace of the team
  A perfect example is Toni Kross

Winger

• The widest attacking player on the field
• Takes on opposing defenders
• Provides crosses into the box
• Meets crosses from the opposite wing
• Always the quickest player on the field
  A perfect example is christiano Ronaldo

Striker

• Is closest to the opponent's goal
• Is in charge of scoring goals
• Holds the ball before teammates can join the attack
• Harries opposing defenders
• Is physically strong
  A perfect example is Robert Lewandoski

One might ask why then did you choose the role of a striker, i chose that because i have a good touch on the ball,speed and my shot accuracy is better, i also have good football moves i can use to trick a player, i am good in positioning myself for balls.In conclusion being a great striker is a lot of fun. The feeling of adrenaline you get when you score is incredible. It takes work to become a successful striker. There is no such thing as talent, just hard work and effort combined with the right attitude.

MY ROLE MODEL AS A STRIKER

My hero is none other than Robert Lewandowski. Hes one of the best strikers who embodies anything and everything you'd like from a striker in your team. He's also incredibly reliable. He scores goals, goals, and more goals, and he also serves as the ideal foil to get his teammates involved in the game.

As he continues to show at Bayern Munich, the 32-year-old is still one of the best strikers in the world. In each of the last four full seasons, Lewandowski has scored at least 40 goals in all competitions, and his touch, movement, and link-up play remain exceptional.
