Club Standings : The Journey So Far | The Leagues are getting tougher | Winners and qualifiers

in World Of Football ⚽3 years ago

The beauty of the game is growing strong because of the competitiveness of it. Tension is building up as surprises are going to push people into sorrows. Each season starts with not much expected as each team has got 34 to 38 home and away games to play based on number of teams in the league.

All the leagues matches started nicely and continued steadily with the only break and distraction coming from the Covid-19 pandemic. Yes, it took away some aspect of the the games beauty but didn't stop its shine.

We are at the latter end of the leagues competition with some already won. Others are to be decided by the last match day's games and even those to play in the UEFA Champions League (UCL).

The English Premier League

With two more games to play, the EPL title has been won by Manchester City when Manchester United lost to Leicester City then Liverpool in their last two games. The trophy will be handed over in their last home match. The current competitiveness of the league is on which teams join the two Manchester Clubs to the UCL. With just two matches to play, each team, Leicester City, Chelsea and Liverpool FC are keenly fighting for the last two slots in the Champions League. Liverpool FC registered their presence at the war front after beating Manchester United then West Bromwich Albion (WBA) in their last two games. This was achieved with a fantastic header from Alisson Becker, LFC's goalkeeper. Liverpool now clings on the hope of a win in either way in the match between Chelsea and Leicester City to gain a safe passage into the UCL.

The competition for qualification into the UEFA Europa League (UEL) is also on with Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Everton and Arsenal all with the aim of qualifying with the last two round of games.

Italian Serie A

Similarly, Inter Milan has won the league title with Atalanta qualifying with Inter to the UCL. The last two slots are now been contested by AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus. A drop in point by any of these clubs lead to UCL qualification failure. Will Cristiano Ronaldo lead Juventus to the UCL of UEL? It all depends on their last game and results from that of AC Milan and Napoli.

La liga Santander

With just one game to the end of the season, the winner is still not clear. Will it be Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid? It will all be decided on 22nd May. Both Atletico and Real Madrid need a win in their last match to get crowned but Real Madrid also needs a lose or draw for Atletico in addition to a win. Barcelona sadly pulled out of the race after losing to Celta Vigo on 16th May. But with Sevilla, Barcelona joins the two Madrids in the UCL.

French Ligue 1

There is a similar situation to that happening in La Liga in the Ligue 1. Just one match to decide the winner. PSG is just a point behind Lille and a drop in points on the side of Lille, PSG become winners else Lille wins the Ligue 1 trophy this season.
The last match will also decide if Monaco will qualify for the Champions League, play play-off or joins the UEL if overtaken by Lyon.

The relegation zone is still very tight with six teams all having higher chances of being relegated. These teams are Reims, Strasbourg, Brest, Lorient and Nantes.

Bundesliga

This is very less competitive at the latter part as has already been won by Bayern Munich with RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg all qualifying for the UCL.

With the top 5 European leagues about to close another chapter of games, we expect several surprises to pull up in the EPL, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A.

UEFA Leagues Finals

We also await the winners of the UCL and UEL as Manchester City takes on Chelsea in the UCL while Manchester United plays Villareal in the Europa League finals. City is hoping to take the trophy for the first time while Chelsea wants to top up to make two. Which will be successful? Will Chelsea win this as a consolation after losing the FA Cup finals to Leicester City? Or City will add it to the Premier League title? The Europa League is already for Manchester United so won't talk much on that.

Only time will tell. But since I'm a United fan, my only hope is the Manchester Clubs winning the trophies.

Wish all teams best of luck and hope the best teams win the trophies and the best represents at the UCL.

Thank you for your attention.
