The Euros has been exciting and we have seen a lot of beautiful football these past days. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kante, De Bruyne, Pogba, Benzema were not going to disappoint coming into this competition. Ronaldo at 36 is already breaking and setting new records for the competition, having been the leading goal scorer for the competition since its inception, he is still in the race for the golden boot this year too. I want to turn the spotlight on some great individual talents in the competition so far we didn’t pay attention to.

Beginning with, young Billy Gilmour. The Scottish youngster outshined in his first match against rivals England. He played 76 minutes of the game but was named the star of the match. He didn’t play the subsequent match because he tested positive for COVID, sadly. Gilmour is a very good player and I expect more from him when he is back.

Czech’s Patrik Schick is also doing very well. He already has 3 goals to his name, one of which is a goal of the tournament contender. I hope to see more from him as Czech has advanced to the knockout stage of the competition where they play Netherlands.

Locatelli has been wonderful for the Italy side. The midfielder got 2 goals in a match against Switzerland and he’s been very good for the team so far.

Sweden forward, Alexander Isak has been very instrumental for his side. With an assist in their 3:2 win against Poland, he is showing great potential and I’m very sure he will turn up as Sweden is through to the knockout stage.

Robin Gosens of Germany has been very exciting to watch in the competition. He scored a goal and assisted another in a win against Portugal. His contribution is very enormous but little is said about his work for the team.

In Denmark, Andreas Christensen has been very instrumental for the team. The defender scored his first goal for his national team, a beautiful screamer in their last group stage match against Russia. He has been working so hard in defense too and his efforts has put his team through to the knock out stage.

Lastly is Renato Sanchez from Portugal. The 23 year old has been exciting to watch in the midfield especially in Portugal’s final tie against France. He played very well in the position and was instrumental in the team’s qualification to the knockout stage.

There must certainly be more names yet to come up in this competition. The knock out stage has some interesting fixtures too one of which is England against Germany which I can’t wait for. Who do you tip to win the competition?

Thanks for reading. ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
