Euros 2020: After Match day 1, Results and Highlights
Europeans play the best football we are made to believe. The Euros has finally taken off and Match day 1 already done. Interesting groupings and fixtures for the beautiful game I must say.
In Group A, Italy found the net thrice against Turkey in the opening fixture. Goals from Ciro Immobile, Lorenzo Insigne and an own goal from Merih Demiral.
Wales and Switzerland share points in a 1:1 draw putting Italy on top of the group.
In Group B, we saw Denmark take on Finland where the whole world was scared for Christian Eriksen having experienced a cardiac arrest in the field of play. Game was suspended for some time and later resumed and Finland scored a single goal to make the difference.
Belgium took on Russia and thrashed them 3 goals to nil, thanks to Lukaku and Meunier.
Austria gets a 3:1 win against North Macedonia and Netherlands win 3:2 against Ukraine in Group C.
We saw England get a narrow 1:0 win over a strong Croatia side in Group D and Czech Republic put 2 behind Scotland with Schick scoring a beautiful goal worthy to contend for the goal of the tournament.
In Group E, Slovakia gets a win against Poland and Spain managed a 0:0 draw with Sweden.
In Group F, Portugal’s main man, Ronaldo gets a brace to help his team get a 3:0 win against Hungary and the most talked about and anticipated game, France vs Germany ended in a narrow 1:0 win for France.
The competition has taken off in a nice and competitive style and these coming days will certainly be exciting.
