EPL Matchday 16: Chelsea Host Aston Villla, And Everton Welcome Manchester City.
Moving on to EPL Matchday 16 where Chelsea host impressive Aston Villa, and Everton welcome Manchester City.
Saving the best for last, I will start with the game between Chelsea and Aston Villa.
I will be suprised(not "very" though) if The Blues come out with a win in this game as they have lost 3 of their last 4 games, and the win they had was an unconvincing one against West Ham. The most surprising of this loss was the 3-1 loss to an underperforming Arsenal side, although we know Arsenal always look unplayable when it comes to Chelsea irrespective of their form, but losing 3-1 was just not acceptable. Aston Villa, on the other hand, have being the suprise package of this season so far. They have been awesome, and they could move to as high as 2nd place with just a point behind League leaders, Liverpool if they win all their outstanding games and other things remain equal. Their impressive run of 4 games unbeaten(3 wins and a draw), and not conceding a goal in any of these 4 games is a huge one for them as well. Chelsea might just have a lot in their plate taking out this team.
However, Chelsea could spring up a Suprise of their own today, and here are my reasons:
- Head To Head: Chelsea have been impressive against Villa in their previous meetings, winning all 6 of their last meetings.This could be a huge psychological boost for Lampard*s men.
- Home Advantage:
The Blues will also have the comfort of their home on their aside in this game. I believe this should have a good psychological impact on them as Villa have faiked to defeat them at home in their last 5 travels to the Bridge.
A tight one I must say, but whatever the outcome may be, it will definitely not be a shocker, except the scoreline of course.
Moving to the clash of 2 Titans as Everton welcome City to their fortress, Goodison Park. It is no wrong saying that these 2 sides have been extraordinary with Everton sitting comfortably in 2nd position with 3 points behind League leaders and City rivals, Liverpool, whilst Manchester City are just 3 points behind them(Everton) with a game at hand. Also, Everton are on 4 matches wining streak in the EPL, whilst Manchester City are on an amazing 11 matches unbeaten run in all competition. I believe these stats sums up their impressive performance.
Picking a side in this game will be a difficult one for me, but with no dierespevt to Ancelotti's men, I will go with Pep's City for a win, and here are my reasons:
- Head To Head: Manchester City have gotten the better of Everton in their previous 5 meetings, coming out victorious in all 5. You might want to say that Everton are in great form at the moment, don't forget that Pep's side are also great at the moment, so this will be a psychological boost for them.
2j Man City Looking Sharp At The Back: A big issue that saw Man City fade away in the latter stages of their pursuit of the EPL last season and their sloppiness early this season was the problem with their backline conceding goals. During these periods, City found it very difficult going 2 games without conceding a goal even after out playing their opponents which made them drop points unnecessarilyeg their games against Tottenham and Leeds. However, Pep have found a way to resolve this issue, and it's amazing to see them go 11 games in all competitions, conceding in 1goal each in just 2 of these games.
Although this came at the expense of their attack being a bit conservative, but as long as they keep getting the cleansheets and winning games who cares. This will be a difficult one for Everton I must say as they have to not only stop City's attack, but also try all they can to break their resilient defence.
No doubts about it, we will definitely be entertained in both games. Let's enjoy them.
