Bayenr Munich 2 - Sevilla 1

The European Super Cup final was played today pitching Bayern Munich vs Sevilla. At first sight it would seem like an easy win for the German champions playing against a team that finished fourth in a very diminished Spanish league. So the question most people were looking an answer to was by how much Bayern was going to win not if.

In fact it was not so, Bayern had much of the ball during long periods of the game but Sevilla's attacks were just as dangerous as theirs. In fact Sevilla started out winning after an early penalty scored by Ocampos. Bayern went all up front and tied in the 34th minute with a Goretzka goal after a very good assist from Lewandowski.

The second half finished as it started with both teams looking for a goal but with not any good ideas on how to get it, it was off to extra time. Bayern scored the winning goal in the first half of aggregated time when Bounou the Sevilla goalkeeper punched the ball straight forward and Javi Martinez headed it in. This was a goalkeeper mistake, always send the ball to the side not straight ahead.

This goal was enough for Bayern to win this game, but somehow I think the cloak of invincibility Bayern has had was cracked today, they are not really as good as the press has made them out to be.
