AC Milan who acted as a successful comeback after falling behind by overthrowing host Inter Milan. The Rossoneri won 2-1 through two goals scored by French striker, Olivier Giroud in the 75th and 78th minutes. In the Milan Derby match, AC Milan excelled in possession of the ball 57 percent compared to Inter Milan's 43 percent.
The Nerazzurri, who made 11 attempts, with five on goal, were able to take the lead in the 38th minute of the first half through a goal created by Ivan Perisic. AC Milan immediately attacked to suppress Inter Milan's defense both from the left and right. However, Inter Milan was able to endanger AC Milan's goal when Denzel Dumfries met Ivan Perisic's cross in the 10th minute. Entering the second half, AC Milan began to attack and make Inter Milan difficult to develop the game. AC Milan managed to equalize the score in the 75th minute through a counter-attack through Olivier Giroud. In the 78th minute, Giroud scored the second goal and brought AC Milan back 2-1 up. After that Inter Milan tried to catch up on goal difference in the remaining matches, but AC Milan's defense was too difficult to penetrate. This victory makes AC Milan move up to second place standings with 52 points (24 games) and one point behind Inter Milan at the top with 53 points from 23 matches.
