The Reds Liverpool successfully won the 2021/2022 Carabao Cup title after overthrowing Chelsea. In the final match which took place at Wembley Stadium, London, Liverpool won on penalties with a score of 11-10 after the two teams drew in normal time until extra time. The Blues, Chelsea had a chance to score in the sixth minute through a counter-attack through Christian Pulisic but the ball went to goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. Liverpool also had a golden opportunity when Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross was headed in by Sadio Mane in the 17th minute, but did not meet the target. In the 30th minute, Liverpool had another chance through Sadio Mane but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. Until the first half match ended both teams drew 0-0.
Entering the second half, Chelsea threatened Liverpool's goal in the 49th minute through Mason Mount. However, Mount, who lived against Caoimhin Kelleher, failed to score. In the 64th minute it was Liverpool's turn to threaten which was started by goalkeeper Mendy's error who gave the wrong pass and was met by Mohamed Salah but was denied by Thiago Silva before crossing the Chelsea goal line. Liverpool managed to score in the 67th minute through Joel Matip, but it was disallowed by VAR because Virgil van Dijk violated Reece James. The 0-0 draw lasted until the second half ended, so the match had to go to extra time. Chelsea managed to score in extra time in the 97th minute through Romelu Lukaku but was disallowed by VAR because Lukaku was in an offside position.
Chelsea scored again through Kai Havertz, but was again disallowed by VAR because Havertz was caught offside first. Until the extra time ended, no goals were scored until the match went to a penalty shootout. All the kickers Chelsea and Liverpool and Chelsea managed to do their job perfectly until both goalkeepers had to take their 11th kick. Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhim Kelleher was able to carry out his duties while Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga failed to give Liverpool an 11-10 win for Liverpool.

It was a tough day for the blues as he netted the ball three times but all ruled to no goal but congratulations to Liverpool and best of luck in defending the title next season
